Tesa Aquino Pennington the founder of Sidney and Mike's Angels is doing the work yall… every weekend they are out at Illus Davis Park doing Street Outreach to the most vulnerable population. It was cold out and the crowd still came obtained items needed to stay warm.
Creative Innovative pulled up and jumped right in by providing more materials donated by Nikki Klien, Diane, Pam, Jason and his wife Sarah and we utilized grant funds to buy items needed for those in need these cold days.
There is a greater need in Kansas City—housing. Our city is short more than 64,000 units of affordable housing. Nationally, nearly 850,000 people are living on the streets.
Kansas City ranks among the highest cities per capita for individuals experiencing homelessness. That reality should challenge all of us to confront the truth rather than avoid it.
As we work to build solutions and break down silos, we must be honest about the barriers that keep us from addressing this crisis.
Grassroots organizations are some of the strongest and most compassionate groups in our city. They care deeply about the people they serve, yet they remain largely underfunded. Many operate through the dedication and hard work of individuals who give their time, resources, and energy; even while working other jobs to sustain the mission.
We Stand With Smaller Orgs doing the work as we do Street Outreach and Community Engagement. It is highly important that everyone get involve. It is a critical time and we need more people to care enough about humanity.
Thank you to the Deron Cherry Foundation for the support. And thank you Tesa for all the work you do for the most vulnerable populations we all serve.
