Black Police Officers Association - KCK Chapter

Black Police Officers Association - KCK Chapter The Kansas City, Kansas Black Police Officers Association (B.P.O.A.)

is a recognized 501C3 organization with the primary mission to serve as a vehicle for members of the association to give back to the community that we serve.

During the summer of 1978 a small group of Black Police Officers within the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department, began to formally discuss issues facing the Black Community and the Black Officers. In December of 1978 the Kansas City Kansas Ethical Police Alliance was chartered with the Secretary of the State of Kansas, and became a reality. The purpose of the organization was to improve the professional skills of the black police officers of the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department, due to differential treatment of Black and White officers. To improve relations between the Black Community and the Police Department; to encourage more black citizens to seek employment in Law Enforcement and to aid in the reduction of crime. The organization has since evolved into The Kansas City, Kansas Black Officers Association, (B.P.O.A.).
