Sharing my thoughts and commitment following recent events in our city:
Our downtown has experienced some challenging moments recently, yet what continues to define Kannapolis is the strength and resilience of our people. My heart is with those affected and with every neighbor who loves this city.
As your Councilwoman-Elect, I want you to know that I am aware of these recent events and remain committed to working closely with our police department, city staff, and community partners to support safety and prevention efforts across Kannapolis. Our neighborhoods and downtown areas must continue to be places where families feel safe, connected, and supported.
I want to commend the Kannapolis Police Department for their swift and professional response in both situations. Their dedication to our residents reflects the excellence and integrity we value in public service. As I prepare to take office, I plan to work with City Council and our public safety leaders to strengthen communication, prevention, and collaboration that keep our community safe and thriving.
Last night, thousands gathered at Village Park for the annual tree lighting and the opening of the Celebration of Lights. That moment—filled with joy, hope, and community—reminded us of who we are as Kannapolis. While recent challenges are concerning, they do not define us. I encourage everyone to keep our city in prayer, look out for one another, and stay engaged as neighbors. Together, we will continue to build a city where hope, compassion, and community shine brightly this Christmas season and beyond.
