Vitalogy EMS and Vitalogy Healtcare Education would once again like to welcome world renown airway master Dr. James Ducanto back to the Flathead Valley to present a seminar on the SALAD technique. (Suction Assisted Laryngoscopy and Airway Decontamination) This is a great class for all levels of prehospital provider, RNs, RTs, or anyone who deals with acute airway emergencies in their scope of practice.

Dr DuCanto will be here Monday, December 1st from 0800-1100. Lecture is 30-45 min. followed by a hands-on intubation/SALAD lab with Q&A. This course will be held at :

It was a very busy morning at the Vitalogy North station today doing provider recertification PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) and BLS CPR fort a local surgery center.

We will be going to their facilities soon to run in-situ (in their facility) mega-codes and Malignant Hyperthermia (MH) operating room simulations.

PTSD is real — and SB 394 was a clean, bipartisan bill to protect the first responders who deal with trauma every single shift.

Firefighters. Paramedics. Law enforcement officers. They see the unseeable and carry it with them so others don’t have to.

SB 394 passed the Montana Legislature with strong support. But Governor Gianforte vetoed it.

He says he stands with first responders. But when it mattered most — he didn’t.

Hot and dry summer months are right around the corner and with that comes fire season. Vitalogy EMS is currently looking for EMTs, AEMTs, paramedics and nurses who are willing to go out with an ambulance or by themselves to provide care out on the fire lines for 1-3 weeks at a time. These individuals must fit the following criteria:

- Must have a current ECP license in good standing.
- Have a clean driving record.
- Be able to pass a background check.
- Be physically fit - You must pass the arduous pack test, which is walking three miles in 45 minutes with a 45 pound pack on.
- Be willing to travel and be away from home one to three weeks at a time.
- Complete/have completed FireFighter II, which consists of
Basic Firefighter Training: ICS-100, Introduction to ICS. L-180, Human Factors in the Wildland Fire Service. S-130, Firefighter Training. S-190, Introduction to Wildland Fire Behavior.
IS-700, NIMS: An Introduction.

These classes are available around Montana and are a week in length. Contact us for more information on where these are available near you and how to get signed up.

We are also assembling a Type One REMS team (Rapid Extraction Module Support) and we are looking for additional individuals who are familiar with ropes, climbing, high and low angle rescue, and those who have been a Single Resource Boss/Crew Boss.

Pay starts out at $696/day for EMTs and $870/day for Paramedics. REMS crew members will have a slightly higher rate of reimbursement.

In 2024, VEMS had resources deployed from mid-July until November 1st. During this time we had equipment and personnel stationed in Montana, Idaho, Oregon, and Wyoming.
