Governor Mike Dunleavy has proclaimed October 2026 to be Pedestrian Safety Month in Alaska. We're kicking it off with a reminder: the moment you step out of your vehicle, you become a pedestrian. 🚶🏽‍♀️🚴🏽‍♀️👨‍🦽🏃🏽‍♂️

Keep in mind that safety is a 2-way street:
🚙 Drivers: Scan crosswalks and roadsides for pedestrians & cyclists, and be extra vigilant in low-light conditions. Stay focused and eliminate distractions.
👟 Pedestrians: Stay visible, use crosswalks when possible, stay alert, and wear retro-reflective gear especially during low-light hours. It’s the BRIGHT 🌟 thing to do!
