The shooting at the 𝐈𝐬𝐥𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐚𝐧 𝐃𝐢𝐞𝐠𝐨 is exactly why people keep warning about 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐦.

When political leaders, media figures, and online movements spend months escalating 𝐟𝐞𝐚𝐫, 𝐡𝐚𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐝, and 𝐝𝐞𝐡𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐫𝐡𝐞𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐜 against an entire religious or ethnic community, eventually someone unstable hears that message as a 𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧.

The anti-Muslim rhetoric coming from parts of this administration, Republican representatives, and MAGA circles has intensified dramatically over the past several months. Constantly portraying 𝐌𝐮𝐬𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐬 and 𝐢𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐬 as threats, invaders, terrorists, or enemies of America has 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥-𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬.

This is what happens when people are fed 𝐟𝐞𝐚𝐫 and 𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞 nonstop. 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐬 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫. Repetition matters. 𝐃𝐞𝐡𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬. And pretending this rhetoric exists in a vacuum after violence happens is 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐭.

The woman shown in the video is 𝗔𝗹𝗶𝘆𝗮 𝗥𝗮𝗵𝗺𝗮𝗻, a 𝗨.𝗦. 𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗻 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗮𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝘀 who was forcibly removed from her vehicle by ICE agents during a federal enforcement operation.

She was 𝗼𝗻 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗮 𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 when the incident occurred, and she repeatedly stated that she is 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗱.

The videos widely circulating on social media 𝗱𝗼 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁. They begin 𝗮𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗰𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗺𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀.

It is also 𝗰𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗼 𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗲 that her vehicle was 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀.

She could not simply “drive away.”

I watched that video, and I swear to God, I felt my entire body revolt. I wasn’t just angry — 𝐈 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠, hands trembling, vision blurring, stomach twisting into knots. I had to put my phone down before I threw it through a wall.

Because what I heard wasn’t “politics.”
It wasn’t “a difference of opinion.”
It was 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙙𝙖𝙧𝙠𝙚𝙧, 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙘𝙤𝙧𝙧𝙪𝙥𝙩𝙚𝙙, 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙙𝙚𝙫𝙤𝙞𝙙 𝙤𝙛 𝙖𝙣𝙮 𝙧𝙚𝙢𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙝𝙪𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙮.

I always knew — deep down — that eventually some Trump-drunk zealot would cross this line.
I knew someone out there would finally say the quiet part out loud, the part that festers in the rotten corners of extremist ideology.

But I never imagined it would come out 𝘴𝘰 𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘪𝘭𝘺.
𝘚𝘰 𝘤𝘢𝘴𝘶𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺.
𝘚𝘰 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘧𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘭𝘺.
Like he’d been waiting for the chance to speak this poison into the world.

And then he said it — a sentence so vile it made my skin crawl:

“𝐈 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐦𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐲 𝐢𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐞𝐲𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐧.”

Let me repeat that — because 𝙗𝙚𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙘𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙧 𝙞𝙩 𝙏𝙒𝙄𝘾𝙀 is exactly how it felt:

“𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐭 𝐰𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐧?”

If your stomach didn’t drop, if your blood didn’t run cold, if something inside you didn’t scream “𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙁𝙐𝘾𝙆?” —
then I genuinely, sincerely fear for your soul.

Because this isn’t just ignorance.
This isn’t trolling.
This isn’t “owning the libs.”

This is 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐲 so advanced it should come with a biohazard label.

A grown man — calling into a public show — proudly asked why ra**ng children is wrong.

And if you think I don’t have an answer for him?
Oh, I do.
A very detailed one.
One that would have him sprinting toward the nearest federal witness protection hotline.

But I’m also very aware that the FBI does not share my sense of poetic justice, so I’ll keep those particular thoughts to myself.
