Two years. Two different Councils. Similar concerns.

Since I took office in January 2026, approximately 11 employees have left the City. Most recently, we lost our Public Works Director. AGAIN.

Yes, people move on. But when turnover becomes a pattern, leadership has to ask: WHY?

I’m not pointing fingers. I’m paying attention to the pattern.

What is the current state of the City of Jonesboro, and what are we doing to change it?

Because two years from now, I don’t want another Council asking the same questions.

Jonesboro’s 2024 Audit is in. But what does it actually mean?

You may have heard terms like “material weakness,” “internal controls,” and “expenditures over appropriations.” But what does any of that mean for YOU?

I broke the audit down in plain language: the good, the concerns, what the auditors recommended, and the bigger question we should all be asking:

UPDATE FROM THE OFFICE OF COUNCILWOMAN SANTIA FOX

I hope everyone had an amazing Labor Day weekend and was able to get some much needed rest. Thank you to everyone who continues to do their part, big or small, to keep our community moving forward.

Don’t forget, we have a City Council meeting today at 6:00 PM.

Tonight, Tabb & Tabb, the firm hired to conduct the City’s annual audits, will be discussing our 2024 audit.

As many of you know, the City is behind on its audits. But beyond the delay, what concerns me most are some of the findings contained in this audit.

Government audits and municipal finance come with a lot of technical language, and I know it can be difficult to understand what it all actually means. After we hear directly from the auditors tonight, I will be releasing a blog that breaks down the findings in plain language so you can understand what was found, what it means, and why it matters.

The audit is currently posted on the City’s website for anyone who would like to review it for themselves.

THIS IS WHAT COMMUNITY LOOKS LIKE.

This past Saturday, our Beautification Team Community Cleanup was a beautiful reminder of what can happen when people come together with one purpose… to take pride in the place we call home.

A heartfelt thank you to our amazing City of Jonesboro staff, Chief Code Enforcement Officer Derry Walker, and our incredible Beautification Team for organizing and leading such a successful community effort.

From our Boy Scouts, to City staff, to neighbors and residents… everyone rolled up their sleeves, grabbed a bag, and got to work. Together, we cleaned block after block throughout our city.

But we did more than clean streets.

We showed community pride.
We showed ownership.
We showed what it means to care for one another and for the city we call home.

And we’re going to keep it going.

Because reshaping Jonesboro doesn’t happen all at once. It happens…

One block at a time.
One event at a time.
One cleanup at a time.
One policy at a time.
One conversation at a time.
One post at a time.

Little by little. Block by block. Neighbor by neighbor.

We are reshaping ONE Jonesboro… together. 🧡

THANK YOU, JONESBORO!

What an amazing time we had at Lee Street Park for Jonesboro Neighborhood Day!

This event was a true team effort. A huge thank you to Public Works, Jonesboro PD, JCC Staff, JYCG, and our incredible City of Jonesboro staff… the best staff in the county! Your hard work and dedication made this day possible.

Most importantly, thank you to our residents who came out, brought their families, and celebrated community with us. And to everyone who grabbed the mic for karaoke 🎤… the talent in our own backyard was incredible!

I’m already looking forward to next year. Bigger. Better. Together. 🧡
