Well, I am not sure what happened, but no one else threw their hat in the ring to represent the best district in Crow Wing County. I had my walking shoes ready, and my yard signs were prepped to make it to every corner and last mile of God's Country.

Instead, I will keep doing what I am doing by showing up and listening first. We are all Better Together, so I will keep this as my focus as I work hard to bring us all along for the betterment of our families, neighborhoods, and natural resources.

Today, I officially filed for reelection for Crow Wing County Commissioner, District 2.

It has been an honor to serve our communities, and I remain committed to practical leadership, responsible spending, strong public safety services, and working together to keep Crow Wing County a great place to live, work, and play.

I am serving as board chair for the Heartland Cable Commission. I was honored to give out $6000 scholarships at Pequot Lakes High School to five deserving seniors.

I was very pleased to attend the grand opening of the new Baxter Food Shelf. My northern Crow Wing County neighbors will not be surprised to learn that this new food shelf is a result of our community leaders at Lakes Area Food Shelf in Pequot.

Thanks to these community champions, many children, families, and seniors will now be in getting access to fresh and nutritious food.

I attended the 7th Annual Crosslake Cares Senior Expo. While stopping by some of the 50 exhibitors they had there I ran into our own Gina Heyer, Crow Wing County’s Community Health Manager. Gina was hosting the Crow Wing Energized booth this year and the vegetable they are highlighting is carrots.

I also stopped by the Whitefish Area Property Owners Association booth and talked with Geoff Davidage and Jeff Laurel about the efforts that they do on the Whitefish Chain. They work hard to protect and enhance the quality of water that is so vital not only for our enjoyment, but also for the economy of Crow Wing County.

Cindy and I attended the 99th annual Crow Wing County Historical Society annual dinner. The highlight of the evening was the presentation done by Dr. George Holly Professor of Anthropology of the Minnesota State University Moorehead, who presented information on the societies large collection of pre-contact pottery that we have in Brainerd that he studied over the past several months. He also talked about the rare find of a fully intact vessel that was found in the early 1900s by FT Gustavson in the upper Hay Lake area, which dates back to 600 AD.

I didn’t realize we had that much history right in our backyard!

The big day is here! Thank you to the Lakes Area Food Shelf Board and Staff for having the courage to move ahead with the project, which will most definitely serve many of our neighbors in need.

Our Baxter location opens Tuesday 4/21!

I attended a townhall meeting in Pequot Lakes where Mayor Tyler Gardner and City Clerk/Treasurer Emily Johnson presented a major road projects that’s happening in downtown Pequot. The room was full of interested citizens who had a very open and civil dialogue. The Pequot Chamber also brought up the changes that may have to be made to their Fourth of July parade due to construction.

It's good to see a city that is planning for their future and wanting to keep their citizens and businesses informed.
