Advocating for Missouri’s behavioral health system at Hill Day was a powerful experience. We were joined by 18 constituents representing 11 provider agencies, all united in advancing mental health across our state.
This advocacy work makes a real difference—strengthening community connection and purpose while supporting efforts to expand funding, grow the peer support workforce, and improve crisis response infrastructure. Our team met with members of Missouri’s congressional delegation and Senator Schmitt. We had the opportunity to visit the Department of Justice and the statue of President Truman at the Capitol.
Thank you to everyone who dedicated their time and voices to advocating for Missourians!

June is Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month. Mental health affects everyone, but many men still face pressure to "tough it out" or keep their struggles to themselves. The truth is, talking about your mental health takes courage.

This month, we’re encouraging open conversations, checking in on the people we care about, and reminding men that support is available when they need it.

A simple text, phone call, or conversation can make a difference.

Because mental health is health—and every person deserves support.💙

Summer self-care does not have to mean an expensive vacation or a packed schedule. ☀️

Sometimes, taking care of yourself looks like finding small moments of peace throughout the day. Take a few deep breaths, stay hydrated, set aside some quiet time, spend a little less time scrolling, or step outside and enjoy the sunshine.

Small acts of self-care can make a big difference for your mental and physical well-being. What is one thing you are doing for YOURSELF this summer?

Centerstone welcomed staff from the Missouri Department of Mental Health and MBHC to tour its new Youth Resiliency Campus in Springfield, Missouri. The campus will provide a comprehensive continuum of care for youth, including a behavioral health crisis center, an intensive outpatient treatment program, and a residential treatment center.

The design and development of the Youth Resiliency Campus reflect Centerstone’s thoughtful planning and commitment to creating a safe, supportive environment where youth and their families can access critical services in a timely manner. The facility is intended to serve as a welcoming space that promotes healing, resilience, and recovery.

June is National PTSD Awareness Month. Approximately 5% of U.S. adults experience PTSD in any given year, totaling around 13 million Americans in 2020. Women are more likely to develop PTSD, with 8% of women and 4% of men experiencing it in their lifetime. Additionally, veterans have a higher rate of PTSD than civilians, particularly those who are deployed to war zones.

PTSD is a mental health condition that some people develop after experiencing or witnessing a life-threatening or traumatic event. If symptoms last more than a few months, it may indicate PTSD. The good news is that effective treatments exist, but stigma and limited awareness often hinder individuals from seeking help. This is why it is crucial to share the message that treatment can truly improve quality of life, particularly for our veterans and those who have experienced trauma. 💚
