STANDING IN SOLIDARITY WITH FERGUSON-FLORISSANT EDUCATORS!!!

Recently, Representative Stephanie Boykin met with educators from the Ferguson-Florissant School District at the Capitol. Representing the Missouri National Education Association (MNEA), these educators shared concerns about an ongoing contract dispute in their district.

Negotiations have stalled, with key disagreements over teacher working conditions and the support needed to effectively serve students.

Today, educators are taking action—protesting to hold their district accountable. Representative Boykin stands in solidarity with Ferguson-Florissant educators, staff, and students, and the MNEA—now and always.

Teachers deserve to be seen, heard, and respected.

So, to all those fighting this fight: We see you, we hear you, and we're cheering you on in Jefferson City.

State Representative Stephanie Boykin met with members of the Columbia Center for Urban Agriculture (CCUA) to discuss HB 2355 (The Food is Medicine Act) which aims to improve health outcomes for Medicaid recipients with nutrition-related chronic diseases.

CCUA works to enhance our community’s health by connecting people to agriculture and the land through hands-on learning opportunities.

Representative Boykin was inspired by CCUA’s Programs that range from youth education to opportunity gardens for low-income families. So much so, that she co-sponsored HB 2355.

The Food is Medicine Act directs Missouri to apply for a Section 1115 Medicaid waiver. This waiver would allow MO HealthNet to use targeted nutrition services for patients to reduce the need for medical care, improve health outcomes, and support local agriculture.
