Driving support for local families, one swing at a time! โ›ณ

Yesterday, Catholic Charities of Central and Northern Missouri was proud to sponsor part of the Share the Harvest Golf Tournament at Oak Hills Golf Center. Thanks to the generosity of participants, sponsors, and supporters, proceeds from the tournament will help provide nutritious food to neighbors facing hunger across our communities. ๐ŸฆŒ

We're grateful to partner with the Missouri Department of Conservation and the Conservation Federation of Missouri through the Share the Harvest program, which helps turn generosity into healthy, protein-rich meals for Missouri families. ๐Ÿ’œ

Last Saturday, parishioners at St Peter Church gathered for "Who Is My Neighbor?," an evening of prayer, reflection, and conversation exploring immigration through a Catholic lens. ๐Ÿ’œ

Led by Marissa Flores Madden, Director of Family Immigration Services at Catholic Charities, participants shared a meal, reflected on Scripture and sacred art, and encountered one another through meaningful dialogue centered on the call to love our neighbors.

Programs like Who Is My Neighbor? help foster understanding, build community, and create opportunities for encounter rooted in our Catholic faith.

Today, we commemorate Juneteenth, the day that marks the end of slavery in the United States and calls us to reflect on the enduring pursuit of freedom, dignity, and justice for all.

As we honor this day, we encourage you to learn about Venerable Father Augustus Tolton, the first Black Catholic priest in the United States. Born into slavery in Missouri, Fr. Tolton overcame extraordinary obstacles to answer God's call to the priesthood, becoming a powerful witness to faith, perseverance, and hope. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ

Recently, our staff had the joy of surprising Lorna Grefrath Tran with a celebration honoring her 45 years of service. ๐ŸŽ‰

The afternoon was made even more special by the presence of Lornaโ€™s family, including her mother, sisters, daughter, and grandchildren, who joined us for the occasion. It was a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the countless lives she has touched and the lasting impact she has made through her work in Family Immigration Services.

Filled with gratitude, laughter, and many cherished memories, it was a celebration worthy of an extraordinary milestone. Once again, congratulations, Lornaโ€”we are so grateful to celebrate you! ๐Ÿ’œ

Recently, our team had the opportunity to participate in a Logic Model Workshop led by Dr. Aaron Thompson. ๐Ÿ™Œ

This workshop marked an important next step in our strategic planning process as we prepare to launch our new Strategic Plan, which will help guide and strengthen the work of Catholic Charities over the next three years.

Through this training, we explored how logic models work to strengthen our programs, measure outcomes more effectively, and clearly demonstrate the impact of our work. These tools ensure we remain focused on providing compassionate, effective services to our neighbors across central and northern Missouri.

Thank you, Dr. Thompson, for sharing your time and expertise with our team. And thank you to our staff for their dedication to continuous learning and excellence in service. Together, we are preparing for the next chapter of Catholic Charitiesโ€™ mission of providing care and creating hope.๐Ÿ’œ

What if something as simple as a barrel could become a vessel of hope? ๐Ÿ’œ

Inspired by the wedding feast at Cana, where Jesus transformed ordinary water into wine, our Blessing Barrel program invites parishes to transform everyday donations into meaningful support for neighbors in need.

From food and hygiene items to school supplies and infant essentials, each Blessing Barrel reflects the unique needs of the local community while providing a tangible way for parishioners to live out the Gospel call to love their neighbor.๐Ÿคฒ

Through the generosity of parish communities and the support of community partners, Blessing Barrels are already making an impact across our dioceseโ€”and we're just getting started.
