U.S. 7th Fleet Assists in Maldives Search and Rescue Operation

In response to a request from the Government of Maldives, U.S. Navy P-8A Poseidon aircraft from VP-26 coordinated with the Maldives National Defence Force to conduct extensive search operations for three missing mariners from the FRIEND-4 vessel. This assistance reflects the close and long standing partnership between the Maldives and U.S. Our thoughts and prayers remain with the families.

This week, The Tridents of VP-26 supported Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) hosted in Sri Lanka.

CARAT Sri Lanka 2026 brings together personnel from the United States Navy, United States Coast Guard, Sri Lanka Navy and Sri Lanka Air Force for a series of shore-based and at-sea exercises designed to strengthen interoperability and prepare the two nations to respond effectively to shared regional challenges.
