The Exchange Club of the Jacksonville Beaches

The Exchange Club of the Jacksonville Beaches Protecting children, strengthening families, and building a better community! WHAT IS THE EXCHANGE CLUB OF THE JACKSONVILLE BEACHES?

Mission Statement
Exchange, America’s Premier Service Club, working to make our communities better places to live. Exchange is America’s Service Club, a group of men & women working together to make our communities better places to live through our programs of service: the Prevention of Child Abuse; the Promotion of Americanism; the Recognition of Youth; and Community Service. Covenant of Service – (Adopted as the philosophy which characterizes an Exchangite) Accepting the divine privilege of single and collective responsibility as life’s noblest gift, I covenant with my fellow Exchangites:
To consecrate my best energies to the uplifting of Social, Religious, Political and Business ideals;
To discharge the debt I owe to those of high and low estate who have served and sacrificed that the heritage of American citizenship might be mine;
To honor and respect law, to serve my fellowmen, and to uphold the ideals and institutions of my Country;
To implant the life-giving, society-building spirit of Service and Comradeship in my social and business relationships;
To serve in Unity with those seeking better conditions, better understandings, and greater opportunities for all. History Of the Exchange Club of the Jacksonville Beaches and The Childrens Foundation. The impetus behind the start of the Jax Beach Exchange Club was a realtor at the Beaches named Roy Deese. Roy gathered friends from his church and business relationships and in 1980 chartered The Exchange Club of the Jacksonville Beaches, Inc. Some of our present members were part of Roy’s original organization. They are Tom Boyd, Frank Hunter and Bill Hillegass. From an inauspicious start, the club now averages between 50 and 70 members and is very active in community service to the beaches communities. Youth – We serve youth through programs such as Boy and Girl Youths of the Year and our ACE award, presenting scholarships to both the challenged and high achievers in our schools. Seniors – We serve seniors with a variety of activities and support at senior housing communities at the beaches (Pablo Towers). Our donation of funds and talents help Beaches Emergency Assistance Ministry assist those less fortunate. Community -Each year volunteers from our club man a water station in support of the Donna Deagan Beaches Marathon’s fundraising efforts to prevent and cure breast cancer. We promote Patriotism with our GIVEAKIDAFLAGTOWAVE, handing out flags each year during the Beaches parade. We install and maintain Freedom Shrines in local schools and libraries to instill patriotism and teach about our country’s history. The latest of these installed was at John Love Elementary School. That Shrine was dedicated 9/9/2011. Our club, working with the Jacksonville Exchange Club downtown, provides primary support for our local Child Abuse Prevention Center, The Exchange Club Family Center. Child Abuse Prevention is the primary supported charity of the National Exchange Club. Any one of our members will be more than happy to discuss and describe many other activities in which we engage that serves our communities and our neighbors..
