Administrator, Teacher, Appointed City Commissioner, and member of various community boards. Running for Jackson College Board of Trustees. I am a first-generation college graduate that brings 30 years of varied experience in higher education and community service to the Jackson College Board of Trustees. With a background in both instruction and administration, as well as dedicated service on community boards and commissions, I am committed to uniting community and college structures. I hold leadership roles in the City of Jackson’s Community Police Oversight Commission, Racial Equity Commission, and Historic District Commission. I also serve as an appointed commissioner for the City of Jackson’s Planning Commission and Elections Commission. As well, I am a member of the County of Jackson’s Jury Board and a board member for the nonprofit Grow Jackson.

A Treasurer's Approach Matters

Over the past several months, I've had many conversations with residents about what the City Treasurer does and why this office matters.

The City Treasurer is responsible for collecting, safeguarding, and investing public funds. The office also works alongside professional staff, department heads, elected officials, outside auditors, county agencies, and residents every day.

This year, voters will not only choose a City Treasurer. They will also decide whether the office remains elected or becomes an appointed position.

Regardless of how you vote on that proposal, understanding the office and its responsibilities is an important part of participating in local government.

Effective government depends on both accountability and collaboration.

Asking questions matters.
Transparency matters.
Oversight matters.

So does the ability to build productive working relationships and solve problems on behalf of residents.

Success in this role requires more than technical knowledge. It requires stewardship, accountability, transparency, sound judgment, and the ability to work effectively with others.

Throughout my career in public service, administration, education, and community leadership, I have managed budgets, personnel, programs, and organizational resources. I have also served on boards and commissions dealing with taxation, assessments, housing, redevelopment, public safety, planning, and community development.

The Treasurer's Office is entrusted with both public resources and public trust. That responsibility would guide every decision I make.

This election is ultimately about what qualities Jackson residents want in their city treasurer.

Some may view the office primarily through the lens of transactions, collections, and investment returns.

I take a broader view.

The Treasurer's Office is entrusted with both public resources and public trust.

That means safeguarding public funds. It also means supporting professional staff, providing clear answers, working collaboratively with other departments, communicating openly with residents, and remaining accountable to the public.

Throughout my career in administration, education, nonprofit leadership, and public service, I've worked in positions that required oversight, stewardship, accountability, and sound judgment.

Those experiences have shaped how I would approach the office.

Protect public resources.
Support the professionals who serve residents.
Provide clear answers and transparency.
Earn and maintain public trust.

That's the approach I would bring to the office of Jackson City Treasurer.

Moments From Around Jackson.

Over the past weeks, I've walked a lot of miles, had a lot of conversations, and taken every opportunity to connect with people across our community. I’m still at it!

I've enjoyed knocking on doors, attending meetings, stopping by community events, and talking with residents about Jackson.

Residents should know how their money is being managed. Public investing and private investing have different goals.

Earning investment income is important but so are safety, liquidity, and transparency. The goal is making sure city departments have access to the resources they need to serve residents.

I support monthly public investment reporting like the reports published by the Jackson County Treasurer's Office. Jackson County taxpayers can review monthly treasury and finance reports showing how public funds are being managed and invested.
