I attended the United States Conference of Mayors summer meeting this past weekend in Long Beach. It was a great opportunity to talk to and learn from other mayors and their communities.

I'm pleased to share that the City of Issaquah - was honored for our innovative work on resilience hubs, ways for community members to get electricity and resources during disasters like the bomb cyclone. Bravo to the Issaquah team!

I want to give an update on Save Issaquah Light Rail. First, thank you to our community for showing up and making your voices heard. The Sound Transit board is meeting on May 28. If you can, I encourage you to show up.

Here in Issaquah we're setting a positive example of creating ways to make light rail work faster and cheaper. City Council passed a resolution saying we want to be a partner to lower costs for permitting light rail infrastructure in Issaquah.

Finally, we are hosting a volunteer recognition event on June 1 at the Issaquah Train Depot from 6-7 p.m. to thank all of you who have played a role in Save Issaquah Light Rail. We hope you can be there!
