Two people have been arrested by ICE in the last week in Issaquah, Washington.

I am absolutely outraged by reports of ICE indiscriminately apprehending people in Issaquah and Sammamish today. If you encounter ICE, please report it to the WAISN deportation defense hotline at 1-844-724-3737 and to the Issaquah PD by calling 911.

Additionally, for everyone in our community, it’s important to know your rights if you encounter ICE. You have a right under the First Amendment of the Constitution to record or take photos in public view of law enforcement and ICE so long as you don’t interfere with an arrest. You should try your best to obtain important information about what you witnessed (names, phone numbers of any witnesses, badge numbers, etc.).

I’m sharing a few images from explaining our constitutuonally protected rights in English, Spanish, and Chinese.

I will continue to share additional resources as they become available. In these unprecedented times, we need to do absolutely everything we can to protect the safety of EVERY member of our community. Please don’t hesitate to let me know if you have any questions.

I am proud to have cast my vote for my friend and mentor, Elect Victoria Hunt. She’s a scientist who takes an extremely detail-oriented approach to all aspects of policymaking. She’s also an incredibly responsive representative - I was especially grateful for her for taking time out of her busy schedule to speak with constituents from the Issaquah Alps Trails Club earlier this year about our conservation priorities.

I’m confident that Sen. Hunt will continue to champion all of our community members in the state senate!

Since this is my first time running for election, this is also my first time receiving political mail about myself! I think these do a good job of highlighting my experience and record. Environmentalism is good for business! 🌲🤝🏢

**Since these are independent expenditures, I had no idea these were even coming, so it was a pleasant surprise to see nice things about myself in the mail 🙂

So fun to meet all the inflatable animals at the No Kings protest in Issaquah - thanks everyone for coming out and showing that Issaquah stands for human rights, the rule of law, and democracy!

We need to make sure we have local leaders who will protect all of our communities and ensure our cities are strong amidst federal chaos. Ballots are out now, so please make sure to vote by November 4th!

Huge shoutout to my campaign intern for helping put signs up around town! The Issaquah Alps are a huge part of what makes Issaquah so special. As your city councilmember, I’ll continue to advocate for open space conservation, smart forestry practices, and climate action 🌲🐯

Lots of great conversations while doorbelling on Squak today with Elect Kevin Nichols and Lindsey Walsh for Mayor! The highlight was meeting an 82 year old man while he was out doing yard work (very impressive). He was excited to talk about how we’re planning for the future and coming up with creative solutions that have younger generations in mind. Plus, we found a super cute mailbox!

With less than 7 weeks to go before the election, it’s sign time! 🪧 Elect Kevin Nichols and I had a great time biking around town this afternoon to put up signs. Let me know if you’d like one for your own yard! And shoutout to Kevin to teaching me the pro strategies for carrying signs and stakes on a bike 🚲⚡️

Had a great time doorbelling in north Issaquah with Elect Kevin Nichols and Lindsey Walsh for Mayor today! We heard a lot of concerns about school overcrowding and safe streets, especially so kids can walk, bike, or scooter safely in and outside their neighborhoods. I’m committed to making it easier for kids and people of all ages to get around safely without needing to drive, and to finding ways to partner with the school district to build schools close to where students live.

Highlights from canvassing in Talus with Elect Kevin Nichols and Lindsey Walsh for Mayor: great conversations about how we can improve local traffic, and stopping by an open house with a great view! The realtor said that younger people between the ages of 25-35 are looking for smaller homes that are walkable and close to amenities. As someone in that age range, I thought that was pretty much spot on, and I’m looking forward to working on updating our city code to enable more of those types of homes.

Had a great time at the Talus National Night Out event! The Talus HOA does such an incredible job putting on a fun event with all ages - from bouncy castles and carnival games, to rock climbing (!!), to chalk art. We had a blast chatting with neighbors, and we’re also very excited to see Trailhead Taps and Bottles open in Talus very soon!
