From caring for others as a nurse and shaping young minds as a teacher, to raising four children and now cherishing time with their seven grandchildren—their days have always been full of purpose and connection.

They still light up when they dance together, just like they always have. But as time has gone on, life has brought new challenges. Ruth’s recent diagnosis of mild dementia and Joe’s fall have made managing their home more difficult, and the responsibilities of daily life have become overwhelming.

This Memorial Day, we came together in remembrance, reflection, and gratitude. 🇺🇸❤️

Our residents created beautiful poppy pins—symbols of honor and sacrifice—while sharing in meaningful conversations about the true significance of the day. A touching reading of “In Flanders Fields” reminded us all of the bravery and selflessness of those who gave everything for our freedom.

Some of our residents proudly attended the Bohemia Fire Department’s Memorial Day tribute, standing alongside the community to pay their respects. Back at home, we continued the celebration with a festive patriotic BBQ and happy hour, filled with laughter, connection, and appreciation.

Every day, we honor the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice. 🇺🇸✨

Their courage, selflessness, and dedication will never be forgotten.

Today, we also hold close the families who carry their legacy forward and the veterans in our communities who remind us every day what service truly means.
