Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County

Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County We envision an Orange County with food and nutritional security for all.

At Second Harvest Food Bank, our vision is an Orange County with food and nutritional security for all. In collaboration with our partners, we provide dignified, equitable and consistent access to nutritious food, creating a foundation for community health. Our partner network includes houses of worship, schools, after-school programs, colleges and universities, senior centers, shelters for the un

housed, soup kitchens and transitional housing facilities, with sites at 380 locations throughout the county. In fiscal year 2024-2025, we distributed 42.1 million pounds of food to an average of 459,000 (duplicated) community members in need each month. Approximately 20,000-40,000 pounds of produce is harvested each month at the 40-acre Harvest Solutions Farm located in Irvine and begun in August 2021. For more information, visit feedoc.org.

Earlier this week, Second Harvest was in Sacramento for the California Association of Food Banks Food Access Conference and Capitol Action Day.

Together with other California food banks, we are advocating for sustained levels of funding for the CalFood program in the state budget so that we may continue to distribute fresh and nutritious California-grown food to our neighbors in need.

While in Sacramento, Second Harvest had the opportunity to give public comment for CalFood at an Assembly budget hearing, and we met with our Senate and Assembly representatives about our CalFood budget request. Thank you to all of our Orange County legislators who took the time to meet with us.

Food insecurity is on the rise here in Orange County, and more people are turning to food banks for support. Now, more than ever, we must work together to ensure that we can continue feeding our communities and meet their growing needs.
