RPAC is the acronym for the Rehabilitated Prisoners Action Committee. We are all lifers in the CA prison system who society has deemed incorrigible. Yet, each of us during the course of our decades spent behind the walls, found a reason to believe we could be better. We have all spent years in self-help groups and dedicated to our various spiritual practices, confronting and healing the root cause of our terrible criminal pasts. As we grew and matured mentally, emotionally and spiritually, we discovered that getting ourselves well, and simply staying out of trouble wasn't enough. We desire to give back.
RPAC is comprised of men from different racial and economic backgrounds, but we all possess a burning desire to live out the tenants of Restorative Justice. We see the work we do as a kind of living amends, a service-orientated repentance. We are all members of this prison's community at-risk youth mentoring program. We are also talented writers and artists and we believe it's time to do more.
FPAC's mission is:
To build a community within the prison population capable or organizing living amends projects.
To create a culture of responsibility among prisoners.
To use prisoner talents to fundraise for community-based organizations and disadvantaged segments of society.
RPAC members agree to make themselves and their experiences available to all who express interest in prison/prisoner reform and Restorative Justice. We are all disciplinary free and have accepted the serious responsibility of being exemplary models of self-motivated rehabilitation. We invite participation from anyone willing to partner with us in service to the communities to whom we owe our debts.
Sincerely,
