For our partners and friends in Romania today marks the beginning of the winter holiday season. Those who are not familiar with Romanian traditions are a bit puzzled with how late we put the Christmas tree up. And yes it is "inappropriate" to start celebrating Christmas in October! Just think, even only yesterday re-re-re-released one of her famous holiday songs! So, our friends at Romania Private Tours just explained it to the world - thank you!

Happy Saint Nicholas! Clean your boots and put them by the door, Saint Nicholas might visit you later tonight :). Happy Holidays!

The story of Saint Nicholas in Romania is filled with rituals, myths and traditions. Kids shine their boots and line them up for sweets, fruits or whips!

Two great pieces of news to share with you all: our handcrafted in Transylvania are included in the design sections of two of the most prestigious and popular home decor magazines: Homes & Gardens Magazine and The World of Interiors. For more than a year we have been working with a small collective of master weavers in the village of Chibed - Transylvania to design and create a collection of locally sourced wool blankets and bed throws. Each piece is carefully handcrafted from undyed wool and reflects the unique weaving traditions that this small group of talented weavers is trying to preserve and protect. Visit our website to learn more about their work and sign up to our newsletter for updates on the upcoming collection that will be launched this fall - WWW.MOZAIQUE.CO

It has been a while! We were not on holiday, that's for sure 💪. A new collection of bed-throws in the making 🎉, growing our collection of handwoven and handcrafted facemasks😷, finalizing our report📜 for the European Social Innovation Challenge (fingers crossed, please!), and working with the coolest people ever as part of the Nest -Qurate Retail Group program. Two weeks of daily calls with a group of professionals in the retail business who helped us make sense of where we want to go, how and why! Plus it was tons of fun - best way to start our day!

SUNDAY READ: Take a step back and ignore for a minute all the news about the pandemic. Our suggestion for a refreshing Sunday read is the latest blog from our friend Roxi Staton who writes about sustainability the way we should all think about it: “how I can live a life that leaves behind few traces of me after I’m gone?”.

We often speak about the benefits of a sustainable lifestyle, as it pertains to the effects it has on the environment, but we rarely stop to consider its transformative effects on our own lives. To…

As wearing a face mask is the new normal, a trend that will only become more and more popular everywhere around the world, check out the 8 ethical face masks brands Cause Consumer has identified. We are excited to be part of this list and appreciate everyone's support so far. Our handwoven and handcrafted face masks have been a hit and we could not have made it without the support of our partners in Indio/Coachella Valley - Claudia, aka Morena Monroe By Pinupbabydoll, and her amazing family.

And please, WEAR A DAMN FACE MASK!

Masks are a sign that we care for people in general — but they're also great for highlighting the specific causes that we're passionate about.

Claudia Armenta and her father, Señor Maurilio, have been the best partners we could have ever imagined and we could not have been able to deliver our one of a kind collection of facemarks without their support. Prior to our partnership, the Armenta family has been creating and donating face masks to essential workers in Eastern Coachella Valley since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic. Each face mask we have created with them is very carefully handcrafted, each detail is checked numerous times so the person who wears it feels protected and safe.
But Claudia and her family are not just very talented artists, they are also community leaders whose social impact work has been crucial in the Valley. Together with her sister Gabby, the two of them are running Circulo Azteca Citlaltonac - an organization which is providing community support through Aztec healing and dancing circles. Their danza performances are fabulous and their healing circles are known thoughtout the region for providing comfort and support especially to the immigrant communities whose lives are constantly challenged. Check our website www.mozaique.co to purchase our face mask collection. Your purchase is supporting artisans and artists in Guatemala and Indio, California. - Morena Monroe By Pinupbabydoll Gabby Armenta Citlali Armenta Danza Azteca Citlaltonac

Our work has been so much easier since we started working with Natanael, our dear friend and advisor in Guatemala! It has been more than two years since our first 24 hour trip to San Pedro/San Marcos just to meet him.

We learned about his work in Guatemala City and we could not leave the country without meeting him although it was at the end of a long work trip around the country meeting artisans and exploring different collaborations.
Looking back, it was the best trip we took because it marked the beginning of a great collaboration.

Designing and developing our first collection together with him was not only a blessing, but also a lot of fun. We are grateful for all the things we have learned from him, for his advice on colors, quality and designs. All the delicious lunches we had with him and his lovely family made us feel at home and forget about the stress and the annoying chicken buses we took back and forth.

The pandemic has had a disturbing impact on the artisans and everyone working with them as there are no orders coming in and the perspective of recovery is very dim. You can support them even from the distance. Shop local, shop products that are made by artisans and artists. Our latest collection of facemasks highlights the exquisite work of our Guatemalan weavers. Have a look at our online store and purchase a facemark thus helping our artisans partners in Guatemala and California. Plus, they will keep you safe and protected!

The last couple of weeks have been very intense as we put all our energy in creating face masks to donate to essential workers in the Eastern Cochella Valley California (as part of the Nest PPE Initiative and with the support of Morena Monroe By Pinupbabydoll) and for our customers as well. The response has been overwhelming and offered us the opportunity to continue supporting artisans and artists in Guatemala and Indio/California.
But we could not have done it without the amazing work of our partners, the master weavers in Guatemala and the fabulous artists in Indio/California. So this week is about them. First, we would like to thank Mildred, one of the artisans with whom we partner in Guatemala. She is the one hand weaving our GuaTela Tipica collection that you can shop not only as tea towels but also in the new collection of face masks we have recently launched. Mildred lives in a rural area outside the small city of San Pedro/San Marcos. Our goal is for her to have access to regular and constant orders so she can plan ahead and increase her financial predictability.

For all the couples out there 👩‍❤️‍👨 👩‍❤️‍💋‍👩 👨‍❤️‍💋‍👨 who have been putting with each other’s non sense for so many days. You still have a long way to go, at least for the remaining of the quarantine.

So, buckle up and buy our couple’s choice facemasks. Two facemasks that match but different jn the same time, kind of like your couple.

Each GuaTela face mask is made of cotton fabric handwoven in the Western Highlands of Guatemala by master artisans with whom we work directly. To create these one-of-a-kind face masks we team up with a group of talented artists in Indio, Southern California, who cut and sew each face masks individually at home. Not only these masks are comfortable, durable, reusable, they are also washable.

Your purchase will not only support the artisans in Guatemala and California, but it will finally bring peace in your household. You won’t fight over facemarks anymore! Visit us at www.mozaique.co
