Indiana ESGR

Indiana ESGR Virgin Islands.

Established in 1972, Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve is a Department of War office that develops and promotes supportive work environments for Service members in the National Guard and Reserve Components. ESGR, a Department of Defense office, was established in 1972 to promote cooperation and understanding between Reserve Component Service members and their civilian employers and to assi

st in the resolution of conflicts arising from an employee's military commitment. ESGR is supported by a network of more than 4,900 volunteers in 54 committees located across all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Guam-CNMI, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Volunteers, hailing from small business and industry, government, education and prior military service bring a vast wealth of experience to assist in serving employers, service members and their families. Together with Headquarters ESGR staff and a small cadre of support staff for each State Committee, volunteers work to promote and enhance employer support for military service in the Guard and Reserve. ESGR has served our country for more than 40 years, fostering a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States. These citizen warriors could not defend and protect us at home and abroad without the continued promise of meaningful civilian employment for themselves and their families. ESGR has continued to adapt to meet the needs of Reserve Component members, their families and America’s employers by joining forces with a network of other national, state and local government and professional trade organizations as together, We All Serve!

Happy birthday to our friends with the United States Air Force Reserve!

Shannon and I join our entire National Guard family in mourning the loss of six brave KC-135 Airmen, including three Ohio Air National Guardsmen assigned to the 121st Air Refueling Wing and three active-duty Airmen from the 99th Air Refueling Squadron, a partner unit with the Alabama National Guard’s 117th Air Refueling Wing.

Maj. John A. Klinner, Capt. Ariana G. Savino, Tech. Sgt. Ashley B. Pruitt, Capt. Seth R. Koval, Capt. Curtis J. Angst, Tech. Sgt. Tyler H. Simmons—Heroes, all.

Our air refueling warriors enable every aerial combat mission to succeed by skillfully transferring tens of thousands of pounds of fuel at cruising altitudes and high speeds, extending global reach and delivering decisive air dominance for our Joint Force. Combat aviators in every service understand the critical role of our air refueling crews and boom operators.

Immense respect for these valiant Airmen. Our thoughts, prayers and heartfelt condolences to their Families, Wingmen and the entire tanker community.

Ivy Tech Community College Recognized by U.S. Department of War

Bloomington, IN: Mr. Steven Green, of Ivy Tech Community College, was recognized with an Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Patriot Award. ESGR is a Department of War office.

Mr. Green was nominated by Staff Sergeant (SSG) Garrett Middleton, who serves with the U.S. Army Reserve. SSG Middleton shares, "I recognized Steven's support for my Reserve career three years ago when I nominated him for the ESGR Seven Seals Award. Since then, he continues to support me in the Army Reserve and has also had our leadership sign a Statement of Support. I've heard from others the ways Ivy Tech supports its Guard and Reserve members, but Steven really makes me believe he and the college are there to support me through missions and training. Steven clears my schedule and covers for me personally or finds someone to cover for me when I'm away at training. As a Drill Sergeant in the Army Reserve, I do more than just one weekend a month and two weeks a year, and Steven allows me to bring my civilian experience and skill into missions and training. 2025 is a perfect example of how well he supports the mission of the Army Reserve. Steven allowed me to be absent from work to complete Annual Training for a total of 18 days even though 8 days of orders were all that were provided."

Please join us in congratulating Mr. Steven Green on his recognition. Thank you for all you & Ivy Tech Community College do to support our Guard and Reserve Service members.

Today, we proudly recognize the birthday of the Navy Reserve and celebrate 111 years of dedicated service to our nation.

Established on March 3, 1915, the Navy Reserve was created to ensure the United States would always have a force of trained, ready Sailors prepared to serve whenever and wherever needed. For more than a century, Reserve Sailors have answered that call — stepping forward in times of war, national emergency, humanitarian crises, and global operations.
