This Thanksgiving, we are thankful for the Hoosier spirit that refuses to quit. In every corner of our state, people are opening their doors, welcoming others to the table and finding ways to lift up neighbors who need it most. That grit, generosity and sense of community is what makes Indiana home. We are honored to serve you and grateful for the chance to fight for a future where every family can thrive. Happy Thanksgiving!

I am grateful to serve on the Interim Study Committee on Energy, Utilities and Telecommunications.

I am committed to supporting legislation that strikes a balance between innovation and ensuring that our ratepayers receive relief from rising utility bill costs.

With my second session right around the corner, I am fortunate to have these opportunities to hear from experts, work alongside legislators from both chambers, and continue to learn about the challenges and opportunities facing Indiana.

My first interim committee.

Friends, I am blessed to be serving on several interim study committees this fall.

These are opportunities for me and my fellow legislators to collaborate with area experts to inform legislation for future sessions.

In the Interim Committee on Roads and Transportation, we heard testimony on several road naming resolutions.

One of these, which I am proud to support, honors Sergeant William G. Paterson of the Lake County Sheriff's Department, who lost his life in a car crash on January 25, 1984, while in pursuit of a stolen vehicle.

Sergeant Peterson made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our community, and this is a small token of appreciation for a debt that we can never fully repay.

State Senator Mark Spencer knows how to celebrate Library Card Sign Up Month! We were thrilled he stopped in to pick up one our brand new library card designs to show his love of libraries!

I was honored to join my colleagues, Sen. Pol and Sen. Randolph in a joint statement highlighting the health impacts of EPA rollbacks in our communities.

I will continue to advocate for policies prioritizing the health of those who call Indiana home.

On this day we remember the lives lost, the families forever changed and the first responders who ran toward danger on 9/11. Never forget.

Historic gains in statewide IREAD scores!

In the 2024-2025 school year, over 6,000 more students reached reading proficiency compared to the prior year.

As a lifelong educator, it is hard to overstate the impact of achieving this critical accomplishment for our students, and I look forward to continuing the efforts to increase our reading rate in the years to come!

Celebrating 100 years of Lodge 357!

Though the M.L. McClelland Lodge was chartered in 1867, this month marks 100 years since construction started on the Masonic Temple that stands in Hobart to this day.

I was blessed with the opportunity to present Lodge 357 and its Worshipful Master, Dr. Marc Connery, MD, with a proclamation recognizing their continuing contributions to our community!

I was proud to stand amongst a bipartisan group of local leaders during the ceremonial signing of SEA 103, a pivotal piece of legislation for Northwest Indiana.

This law is a step for our state as a whole to look at potentially outdated environmental regulations that, in some instances, are exclusive to our communities.

SEA 103 is an opportunity to prioritize public safety and provide regulatory relief simultaneously in Lake and Porter counties.
