“They actually learn government by doing it for a week, and get acquainted with college life. That’s really important,” said Betty Mantinen, American Legion Auxiliary Girls State Chairman and Girls State Coordinator for Grand Rapids. “It is most important that you learn government now before you’re voting age.”
