You may notice ballot language that references facility updates at all elementary schools, Fire Prairie Upper Elementary, Osage Trail Middle School, and the Career & Technology Center.

In preparation for the April 7, 2026 bond issue, a community engagement committee reviewed facility needs across the district and helped prioritize projects that focus on safety and essential improvements.

While some of the updates are smaller in scope, many are larger, higher-cost projects. Because the goal is to address these needs in the near term, the district is proposing to fund them together through a bond.

You can learn more about all the projects included in question 1 on our website at https://www.fortosage.net/our-district/2026-bond-and-levy-transfer

One of the most common questions we hear is about taxes. Will my taxes go down if the bond or levy fail? No matter how you vote, the tax rate stays the same.

If voters approve the bond and levy → $6.25 tax rate
If voters do not approve the bond and levy → $6.25 tax rate

The proposed issues are no tax increase measures. We have one more information session where you can come to learn more about Question 1 and 2, as well as, ask any questions you may have. Join us March 24th at 7pm at the District office.

Congratulations to Linda on having the 10th grade winning essay.

Fort Osage Community: Important Information About the April 7 Ballot

On April 7, Fort Osage voters will consider a no tax increase bond issue and levy transfer to support improvements across our schools.

This proposal would allow the district to address facility needs, enhance safety, and maintain learning spaces for students—without increasing the current tax rate.

The plan simply shifts how existing tax dollars are used so the district can fund building improvements while continuing to operate efficiently.

Take a moment to watch the short video below to learn what the proposal includes and how it supports Fort Osage students, staff, and families.

The Fort Osage Board of Education is pleased to announce Dr. Cindy Grant as the next Superintendent of Schools for the Fort Osage School District. Dr. Grant will officially join the district in July 2026.

“I am honored and humbled by the opportunity to join the Fort Family and become part of the proud community that deeply believes in and supports its school district. I am excited to walk alongside students, staff, families, and community members, with the opportunity to learn, grow, and empower one another as the Fort Osage School District continues its strong tradition of excellence,” said Dr. Grant.

Dr. Grant brings nearly 30 years of experience in public education, including leadership in instructional services, curriculum development, human resources, and school administration. She most recently served as Interim Superintendent for the Independence School District, following seven years as Deputy Superintendent of Instructional Services, where she helped lead academic programming and student services for more than 14,000 students.

Her career began in 1997 as an elementary teacher before serving as an elementary principal and later transitioning into district leadership. Throughout her career, Dr. Grant has focused on strengthening instruction, supporting staff development, and advancing opportunities for all learners.
