Come out Friday June 12th to Rita's Italian Ice & Frozen Custard (Charlotte Hall)! Hughesville Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad will be present with a firetruck and fire prevention information.

A percentage of all sales will be donated to Hughesville Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad (you must have the flyer, or show a copy of it on your phone)

🎉 Happy 80th Birthday to the Hughesville Volunteer Fire Department & Rescue Squad! 🎉

On May 13th, we proudly celebrated 80 years of service, dedication, and commitment to our community. As we reflected on our history, we recently uncovered original meeting minutes documenting the very first discussions that led to the formation of our Department, along with records from our first year of existence.

These documents are more than just pieces of history — they represent the foundation built by generations of volunteers. Many of the names listed are familiar family names that have continued a proud tradition of public service for decades. Take a look… do you recognize someone you know?

As we prepare to honor 80 years of volunteer service at our annual banquet, we remain grateful for every member — past and present — who has answered the call to serve the Hughesville community and all of Charles County.

Did you know?

This weekend is Community Risk Reduction weekend, where departments across the nation work to ensure their communities are protected from fire and other hazards. 🔥

Our volunteers will be out in the Bryantown Hills community tomorrow, Sunday, May 17th around noon assisting the testing of and the installation of smoke alarms.🚨

Install smoke alarms on every level of your home and test them at least once a month.

Create a fire escape plan and make sure everyone in the household knows it.

Working smoke alarms are an essential part of keeping your family safe.
