The mayor and city council are in process of now developing ordinances to protect and regulate the stray dogs and owner dogs.. meaning.. spay/neuter, shots, rabies, registration, etc. ..and we hope to have a temp holding spot for dogs picked up, while rescues are networking to save the dog. You can now drive in Hughes, w/out seeing 100's dogs running around, hurt, sick, strays, etc. I feel they are certainly in a better position to HELP the dogs, instead of hurting them. They are now seen as animals to be cared for, not ignored, since a RESCUE came in town, and cared, showed COMPASSION. Education, Awareness, and spay/neuter! Homeless, Helpless AND yes Hopeless unless we do something, WE ADD UP to make a difference, and we are!! WE HAVE, and we have been there since Dec 2012 and have pulled over 100 dogs from Hughes. and saved 100's in the state of Arkansas alone. I think now in that city, and others i frequent, we have shown them that animals DO matter, and should be cared for, helped, not ignored, hurt, shot at, run over, or dumped. We showed Hughes, that people DO care, we showed them Compassion IN Action, brought in Educations, Awareness AND Spay/neuter ( we did a low cost spay neuter event there) I would like to bring more of the s/n events to other areas too, so with your help, donations, and volunteers, we can Change Arkansas' attitude toward for our animals!
