Increasing southwest winds this afternoon into Wednesday will cause dangerous waves and currents on Lake Michigan. The greatest risk is north of Holland between early Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday evening. Stay dry when waves are high!

Today’s monthly warning siren test has been cancelled.

OUTDOOR WARNING SIREN TEST CANCELLED

Due to the weather and thunderstorms in the area, Ottawa County Emergency Management will NOT conduct the scheduled outdoor warning siren test at noon today, Friday, September 4.

We do not conduct routine siren tests when severe or potentially hazardous weather is in the area. This helps avoid confusion between a scheduled test and an actual warning.

If you hear the outdoor warning sirens today, please treat them as a REAL WARNING and take appropriate action.

The regularly scheduled outdoor warning siren tests will resume on the first Friday in October at noon.

As a reminder, outdoor warning sirens are designed to alert people who are outdoors. They are not intended to be heard inside every home or building.

Please stay weather aware today and have multiple ways to receive weather alerts and warnings.

Morning showers and an isolated thunderstorm could impact the lakeshore region, with some midday and afternoon showers and thunderstorms especially from US 131 to the east. The strongest cells could contain some scattered damaging wind gusts especially near I-94 mid to late afternoon.
