Sidewalk Improvement Project Update

The Village's 2026 sidewalk improvement project is scheduled to begin on Monday, June 8 and will take place throughout the community.

Residents whose driveways may be impacted have already received a notification letter in the mail. Impacted sidewalks have been identified and are marked with spray paint. The project is expected to be completed by the end of next week.

For everyone's safety, please watch for construction areas and safety tape, and avoid using affected sidewalks until they have been cleared for use.

Thank you for your cooperation as we make these improvements to our community!

We are all set up and ready for the event this morning!

Stop by with your boxes of papers and grab a tree sapling on your way out! We will be here from 9:00am until 12:00 today (5/9) or until supplies run out and/or the truck fills up.

A special thank you to our Park Board members who volunteered to help with the event today and to our staff Matt, Mike and Nathan who showed up on a Saturday to get things started!

Work has begun on the Chief Jansen Memorial Park playground upgrade. Our Public Works staff has started removing the old equipment so the new equipment can be delivered. The current plan is for the contractor to begin installation the week of June 1st, weather permitting. The project is expected to take approximately three weeks. We will post more as progress continues.

Efforts are also being made to reuse the pieces that are salvageable (like the swings) and install them at other parks across the Village.

Please help keep children away from this area during the construction for their safety. We have also paused pavilion rentals during this time.

Attention Pickleball Players!

We would like to start an organized play opportunity for anyone interested. All players, of any skill level are welcomed, even and especially beginners!

We are scheduling meetings for Monday May 11, 2026, at the Sommers Landing Park Pavilion. One in the morning at 11am, and another at 6pm. There we will explain what we hope will happen.

We hope to organize a round robin format that will consist of a beginner, intermediate, and advanced division. We would also like to offer assisted play for participants just learning.

Message us with any comments, input or questions you may have at [email protected].

The Village of North Hudson would like to offer our residents a free, two-for-one event on Saturday, May 9th from 9:00am - 12:00pm. Please bring a proof of residency to participate.

🌳 Help Restore Our Tree Canopy

Over the past few years, the Village has lost many trees due to storms and disease. To help restore our community’s tree canopy, the Village has purchased trees through the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) for residents to plant in their own yards. We are offering one free tree per resident while supplies last.

📄 Free Paper Shredding Event

The Village is partnering with Shred-it to help residents safely dispose of confidential paperwork.

✔ Secure on-site shredding
✔ Protect your personal information

Both the shred truck and the trees will be located on the south lawn of the Village Hall (behind the warming house). We look forward to seeing you there!

🚧 Hydrant Flushing Notice 🚧

The City of Hudson will be flushing fire hydrants throughout the community this week as part of routine maintenance.

During this time, you may notice some temporary discoloration (rust-colored water). If this happens, simply run your faucets at a slow drip for a few minutes until the water clears.

With a rain/snow mix in the forecast, it’s the perfect time to cozy up with a good book - and now you have a new place to find one 📚

This week, the first Village-sponsored Free Library was installed at Sommers Landing Park! Built by one of our talented Public Works team members, the project was funded by resident donations. And it didn’t take long to get started - books were already added within a day!

Even better, the idea for this Free Library came from a resident through our Park Improvement suggestion form located on our Village website. We love seeing community ideas come to life. Keep them coming!

We'd like to introduce our newest program here in the Village, Memorial Benches.

Honor a loved one while giving back to the community through the Village of North Hudson’s Memorial Bench Program. These benches provide a peaceful place for rest and reflection in our parks while serving as a lasting tribute for years to come. With several scenic locations to choose from, this program offers a meaningful way to celebrate a life, recognize a contribution, or create a lasting memory.

Program details can be located by clicking on the link below or clicking the Community tab on our website.
