Town keeps losing a lot of good people...

Members of the Select Board in Hubbardston accepted the resignations of four town employees at their Nov. 17 meeting. Here's what we know.

Huge thank you to the Town Administrator, Select Board, Finance Committee, and most importantly the residents of Hubbardston for approving the replacement of Engine 2. We look forward to delivery and getting it in service!! THANK YOU!

Early voting has begun and the annual election is June 17th!! E2 replacement made it through the town meeting and now onto the ballot. Below are just a couple of examples of the rot under this old girl.

The new tanker is half the cost of a direct replacement of the current truck, will fit in the old station, carries more water (a necessity for a town with no hydrants), and most importantly is safer to operate.

Again, please reach out to the Fire Department or TA with any questions!!

Again, please, reach out here, the Hubbardston Fire Department FB page, or to the Town Administrator with questions. We will gladly answer them! You will not get accurate answers anywhere else. Thank you!!

Monday June 2nd at the annual Town Meeting, residents will be asked to approve the first step in replacing our E2, a 2001 KME pumper/tanker. E2 has served to town well for almost 25 years but is showing her age, especially on the frame from New England winters. This new tanker will carry more water, has a shorter wheelbase for improved maneuverability, and yes, fits just fine in the old station.

Please help us help you! A Prop 2 1/2 debt exclusion is being asked for to fund this project. And though it is a tax increase, it is not permanent. Please reach out to the Dept or Town Administrator with any questions!!

At tonight's Selectman's meeting, the Town Administrator and Capital Improvement Planning Committee are presenting their plan. Unfortunately, they have decided to once again push off the replacement of Engine 2, this time until FY28, three more years from now. Engine 2 is a 2500 gallon pumper/tanker that is vital to how we operate especially due to the town not having hydrants. It's a 2001. That will make it 27 years old by the time it's replaced. NFPA recommends 15 to 20 years for replacement of front line apparatus. It's served us well but is getting tired and rusty. It doesn't pull hills very well anymore. It has mechanical issues, electrical issues, and pump issues. It's very unfortunate the town administration doesn't realize or doesn't care about the seriousness off this situation.

Thank you to the residents of Hubbardston for their overwhelming support! It's a step in the right direction!!

Excellent work by our legislative agents, union leadership and members of the house and senate getting this important bill passed to help protect firefighters from the harmful effects of PFAS in our gear!

In the very early hours this morning, the Massachusetts House of Representatives passed “An Act relative to the reduction of certain toxic chemicals in firefighter personal protective equipment.”
