Today, we want to take a moment to express our deepest appreciation to all who helped honor and bring home our beloved Great Uncle, Private Nicholas Hartman. This day was filled with pride, gratitude, and emotional, happy tears as we watched the beautiful tribute come together.

Each person and organization played a special part in creating a moment our family will cherish forever. From the coordination, care, and respect shown every step of the way — it was truly unforgettable.

A huge thank you to Cheryl Whitfield and the incredible ladies with National Memorial Ladies. We appreciate the unique and meaningful way you organized this event and handled every detail with the utmost respect and grace.

To SGT First Class McDougle, Bobby, and your active-duty soldiers — thank you for leading the way with such honor and respect. Thank you all for your service and continued sacrifice to our country big or small, means the world to us.

It was truly beautiful — a moment of deep gratitude and honor for our family, as we remember and pay tribute to our beloved Uncle, Private Nicholas Hartman.

After 81 years, Army Pfc. Nicolas Hartman is finally home where he belongs. Our hearts are full knowing he’s back on Texas soil, his long journey complete. Though decades kept them apart, we know he’s now in heaven with his mother and sister — together again, just as they always hoped. Welcome home, our hero. 🇺🇸❤️

Nicholas Hartman of Houston died in 1944 Allied invasion, but his remains could not be identified until this year. Advances in DNA analysis allowed him to finally be brought home.
