We had a great LIFT Gathering this month. With a springtime lunch and a heartfelt message about Priorities Matter.
First Things First
Life gets busy. Between work, responsibilities, events, phones buzzing, and calendars filling up, it often feels like there just aren’t enough hours in the day. We rush from one thing to the next trying to keep up with everything and everyone.
But in the middle of all the busyness, God gently reminds us of something important: our priorities matter.
God never intended for our lives to become so full that we forget what truly matters. The two greatest gifts He has given us are our relationship with Him and our families. Yet sometimes those are the very things that get pushed aside while we focus on everything else.
In the Bible, we are reminded in Matthew 6:33,
"But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you."
When we put God first, everything else begins to fall into the right place. That doesn’t mean life becomes less busy, but it means our hearts become centered on what truly matters.
Think about a family sitting around a dinner table. Phones are put away. The television is off. Everyone is talking, laughing, sharing stories about their day. In those simple moments, something beautiful happens, connection. Those are the moments that build memories and strengthen the bonds God created within families.
God designed families to support, encourage, and love one another. But those relationships require time, attention, and intention.
Spending time with God and our family doesn’t require perfection. It can be simple moments:
• A prayer together before dinner
• A short devotional in the morning
• A conversation at the end of a long day
• A moment of gratitude before bed
When we choose to give God the first part of our day and our family the best of our time, we are investing in things that last far longer than busy schedules or to-do lists.
At the end of our lives, we won’t remember most of the meetings, errands, or tasks that filled our calendars. But we will remember the love shared, the prayers spoken, and the moments spent with the people God placed in our lives.
So today, let’s pause and ask ourselves:
Am I giving my time to what truly matters?
When we place God first and family close behind, we build a life rooted in faith, love, and purpose.
Father God,
Thank You for the gift of family and the gift of time. Help us to slow down and remember what truly matters. Teach us to place You first in our lives and to cherish the people You have entrusted to us. Guide our hearts so that our days reflect Your love and our homes reflect Your peace. Thank You for the ladies of LIFT, keep us safe & strong.
Amen.
