This is a reminder to past and future clients, that if you get a notification via a letter OR information sheet taped to your door telling you that your home is being foreclosed on, PLEASE do not CALL any number on the flyer. Call your financing company DIRECTLY from their website or your bill.
Scamming people hasn't stopped, and it's sadly very easy to convince people of things that are not true.
If you suspect fraud, call your bank and call the local police. DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING that you are unclear on.
And if your notary tries to convince you to sign paperwork, do not sign. Ask them to leave and report them to the police.
Notaries are not lawyers. Our jobs are to bring you your paperwork. verify your identity, define the papers you are signing (example: "Your note is the legally binding promise to repay the loan amount in a specific time line") we administer oaths, and we sign and stamp your documents. THAT IS ALL THE NOTARY IS LEGALLY ALLOWED TO DO!
Please do not be the victim of a scam.
If you are confused about something, please reach out and I can find you resources to help you. But I am also NOT a lawyer. I can not give legal advice. And most notaries are not employees of the financial institutions where your loans are coming from. We are often 3rd party contractors.
Protect yourself, protect your interests.
