Just Keep Growing- Garden Based, Sobriety Support

Just Keep Growing- Garden Based, Sobriety Support We welcome all in recovery, sober allies, and curious gardeners. Partners w/ The Phoenix. Find our gatherings on the NewFormapp! Hello!

We are currently meeting from 830am-12pm for a garden activity day every Saturday at 8409 1/2 Dairy View Ln, Houston 77072. My name is Casey and I am a person in recovery. Just Keep Growing- garden based, sobriety support is an effort that was established on February 4th 2024. Currently, the group meets at 2pm on Sundays, weather permitting, at the Alief Community Garden in Houston, Texas. We come

together to support those that are in recovery, from all types of addictions, in a setting that is a bit different from where the usual recovery meetings are held. (We are not associated with any established Anonymous groups but we do occasionally refer to the AA and NA texts). One of our many goals is to provide a meeting space that is closer to nature while bringing travelers of the sobriety path together. A common thread that I have observed in the success of those working towards sobriety is staying active in the recovery community. These meeting give recovering addicts the chance to get outside together, share their stories, check in with each other while also reconnecting with nature with the opportunity to learn and garden as well. This effort has been steadily growing and I am excited and beyond grateful that it has reached the point that I am here now, sharing it with you and we, as a group, are working towards establishing ourselves as a non-profit organization. There has been a lot of interest expressed in how one can help out with this growing project. All are welcome to come to the garden at our established meeting time. There are always projects that our group either has going on that could use some manual help or, as part of our appreciation for the garden space, we also spend time on clean up projects around the grounds as well. We only ask that the actual meeting portion of our gathering remain closed for either those in recovery or trying to seek recovery related support. Snacks, waters, and sports drinks are also always welcome and very much appreciated. If you would like to make a financial donation to help us get started, there will be a donation page posted shortly after this page is launched and most likely by the time you are reading this. All donations will go to costs such as hiring an agent, fees related to establishing ourselves as a non profit, website registration, and many other, necessary upkeep costs. Since we are in the process of becoming a non profit, donations at this time can not be guaranteed to be tax deductible on our end but, there is the possibility of a retro-date for the founding of this group. If this is the case, I will be sure to communicate with all of those that participate or follow up with me. Thank you for taking the time to check out what Just Keep Growing has going on. We, as a group, are so excited for the growth of this project and appreciate your support on this journey. I look forward to introducing you to the other leaders of Just Keep Growing soon and hope to see some of you in the future!

Hey all! It's been a minute! We are still growing together every Saturday at the Alief Community Garden- Houston from 8:30am-12pm! You're welcome to join us at any time!

We have had some chilly moments but we are fortunate to be in an area where we can garden year round! Which also means we can gather year round!

Check out how well the carrots and strawberries are doing, both planted by The Phoenix volunteers!

You can find our events (along with many other awesome, sober activities) and sign up on the NewForm app!

We support all paths in recovery and this is a judgement free space.

We hope to see you in the garden!

The cold can't keep us away! Just like our determination, we keep going and growing no matter what!

We'll be at the Alief Community Garden this morning from 8:30am-12pm. We hope you'll join us in some winter seed starting and taking care of our garden beds.

We know that December can be a rough month, especially for those in recovery. If you need a few moments of fresh air or a break from whatever your normal may be, we hope you'll consider joining us for a reset outside.

No one goes home empty handed! We have plenty of seeds, greens, herbs, and flowers to share that our group has been growing!

Our gatherings and other The Phoenix activities can be found on the NewForm app! (If outside isn't your thing, there's plenty of virtual sober activities and meetings too!)

We'll see you in the garden!

Morning y'all! We're out here at the Alief Community Garden until 12pm! We hope you'll get a chance to stop by!

It was so amazing to meet quite a few of you at the Houston Rally For Recovery with Party Sober Partnership and The Council on Recovery last weekend!

We know recovery isn't possible to do alone and that's one of the reasons we're out here every Saturday, to provide an outside space where we can get together to not only garden but to grow together and to support each other.

We're beyond grateful to be a part of the The Phoenix - Houston! If you're not familiar with them be sure to check them out! You can find all of our events on the NewForm app!

We'll see you in the garden!

We can't wait to see you there!
