The Brain Injury Association of America found that women coming into the ER for injuries sustained around the head, neck, and face more than seven times more likely to be survivors of domestic violence which can lead to TBIs.

Additionally, in 2019, studies show that the number of survivors who experience TBIs due to domestic violence is 11 to 12 time greater than the number of TBI sustained by people in the military and sports athletes combined.

These numbers are an alarming reminder of why we need to continue to speak up and stand up for survivors.

If you are in need of support and services, please reach out to Bay Area Turning Point at 281-286-2525.

This Mental Health Awareness Month, we are reminded of the importance of prioritizing mental health and the impact it has on our everyday lives.

Today, take the time to pause from the chaos of everyday life, remind yourself and others to take care of our physical and mental wellbeing, and allow yourself to feel all your feelings.

Be kind to your mind. Be kind to others, but most importantly be kind to yourself.

If you are in need of someone to talk to, please reach out for help. Remember that you are not alone. Our 24-Hour Crisis Hotline is available at 281-286-2525.

When taking care of your physical safety, it's important to recognize the importance of your emotional safety too.

Emotional safety can look like regulating your nervous system after experiencing a traumatic experience.

This can look like finding a peaceful place to go to when things get difficult or finding a group of people that you trust to support you in your journey.

At Bay Area Turning Point, we can provide the support you need to help you feel emotionally safe.

If you are in need of support your during your healing journey, please call our 24 Hour Crisis Hotline at 281-286-2525.

Dylan is a high school senior graduating this spring.

As part of his graduation project, one of his lifelong mentors Debbie Wade, encouraged him and his classmates to give back to an organization that means a lot to them.

Dylan and his classmates were given an envelope decorated by the current kindergarten class, with money to donate.

Dylan attended our Night of Courage event with his mom. Touched by the survivors' stories that night, he decided to support Bay Area Turning Point.

Thank you, Dylan for thinking of Bay Area Turning Point and for your support.

May 4th-May 8th is Teacher Appreciation Week, and this week we want to highlight our wonderful Shelter Childcare Providers, Alexis and Francesca.

These ladies work diligently with the children staying in our shelter to ensure their emotional and physical needs are met and that their educational needs are taken care of.

Every day, these ladies come to work with a heart of gold and a passion for teaching the children.

We could not be more thankful for their dedication to the children. Thank you for all that you do.
