Heads up, Sugar Land! Total Closure at 99 and 90.

This upcoming weekend, from 8:30 p.m. on Friday (2/27) through Monday (3/2) at 5 a.m., TxDOT will implement a total closure of the US-90A intersection with SH-99. The closure will facilitate concrete pouring for the US-90A Eastbound bridge deck main lanes.

Detours are as follows:

US-90A Westbound and SH-99 Northbound: Turn at FM 1464 and take the SH-99 Southbound frontage road back to US-90A Westbound

US-90A Eastbound and SH-99 Frontage road Southbound: Turn at Sandhill Drive to SH-99 Northbound frontage road and return to US-90A Eastbound.

First responders requiring access through the intersection during the closure will have priority.

Please be mindful of work crews, follow the designated detour routes, and expect traffic delays. Definitely avoid the area if possible.

Fort Bend ISD is prioritizing the safety and well-being of students, staff, and families as hazardous winter weather is expected across the region.

Out of an abundance of caution:
• All FBISD athletic events and weekend activities scheduled for Saturday, January 24 and Sunday, January 25, are canceled.
• FBISD schools and district offices will be closed on Monday, January 26, 2026.
This includes all classes, after-school activities, athletic events, and extended learning programs.

FBISD encourages staff and families to prepare for severe winter weather conditions expected later this weekend. Any additional changes to the normal school day, district operations, or scheduled activities will be communicated through the following official channels:
• FBISD website
• Local news media
• FBISD social media platforms
• FBISD mass email system

Parents and guardians are encouraged to ensure their contact information is current and accurate in Skyward to receive timely notifications. For the latest updates, the FBISD Severe Weather Hotline is available at (281) 634-4636.

An Arctic front is expected to approach this weekend; now is a good time to begin preparing for the potential of freezing temperatures and winter precipitation. While forecast confidence is still low on exact timing and how cold it may get, early preparation helps reduce impacts if conditions worsen.

🗓 A few days out:
• Gather emergency supplies for your home and car
• Check smoke and carbon monoxide detectors
• Fuel up vehicles and heating sources
• Protect exposed pipes and sensitive plants

🗓 The day before:
• Continue monitoring the forecast
• Adjust travel plans and prepare to stay off roads
• Ensure you can receive weather alerts
• Bring pets indoors and stock food and water

🗓 During & after:
• Stay informed and check on neighbors
• Use generators and heaters safely
• Never use ovens to heat your home

Preparing ahead of time makes all the difference. Stay weather-aware, stay prepared, and be ready to act as the forecast becomes clearer.

This is a friendly reminder from Fort Bend MUD No. 25 that freezing temperatures are expected this weekend. Please take the following steps to help protect your water pipes from freezing and potential damage.
Helpful Tips:

• Insulate exposed pipes and close garage doors.
• Disconnect outdoor hoses and drain exterior faucets.
• Open cabinets under sinks to allow warm air to circulate.
• Keep your home heated, even if you are away.

If a pipe freezes, gently warm it using a hair dryer or warm towels—never use open flames. If a pipe bursts, shut off your main water valve immediately and contact a plumber.

Taking these precautions can help prevent service disruptions and costly repairs.
