What a great turnout at the Harris County Precinct 2 State of the Precinct! Commissioner Garcia provided an update on the economic development, infrastructure, and community initiatives shaping Precinct 2.

I’m grateful for leaders who recognize that getting things done takes all levels of government working together. There’s a lot of important work happening across Precinct 2, and I look forward to continuing our partnership to deliver results for our community.

Yesterday, the House Subcommittee on Transportation Funding held an interim hearing in Corpus Christi.

We heard from TxDOT, TDC, MOTRAN, TPA, TAoT, HGAC, and many others. Thank you to everyone who testified and attended!

Yesterday, we broke ground on the Sergio Ivan Rodriguez Memorial Pedestrian Bridge over the railroad tracks near Milby High School.

As a former Milby High School student, I would occasionally cross these railroad tracks to get to and from school. This meaningful project will provide students with a safer way to get to school while honoring Sergio’s life and keeping his memory alive in our community.

Good morning, Pasadena! Here’s a quick weather update as we head into the day.🌧️

The system in the Gulf has strengthened into Tropical Storm Edouard, and our City of Pasadena Office of Emergency Management continues to monitor conditions closely.

A Flood Watch is in effect for our area through Wednesday morning, with heavy rainfall expected to be our primary concern. For southeast Harris County, the heavier rain is currently expected to begin between 1–3 p.m. today.

🏛️ City operations will continue as regularly scheduled.

🏫 Pasadena ISD, Deer Park ISD, and La Porte ISD are closed today.

As you head out today, keep an eye on changing conditions and use extra caution on the roads. If you encounter high water, turn around; don’t drown.

The House Select Committee on General Aviation interim hearing is underway. Watch live at house.texas.gov/videos/.

We are hearing testimony on the condition and capacity of general aviation airports across Texas, barriers for carriers to expand, workforce shortages and opportunities, the role of general aviation airports in responding to disasters, governance and procurement frameworks, and best practices moving forward.

The House Transportation Committee held an interim hearing today. Agenda items included TxDOT and TxDMV oversight, SB 1555 (89R), SB 1939 (89R), Texas ports, prioritization of TxDOT projects, TxDOT construction communications, speed enforcement in work and school zones, CDLs, motor vehicle dealer titling and registration processes, and a review of TxDMV.
