We love seeing the bright young minds of La Porte getting involved in our local government. Please join us in celebrating a few special recognitions from recent City Council meetings.

Cale: Thanks so much to Cale for being a guest pledger! Cale is the City's 2026 “I Voted” Sticker Contest winner. He is in the sixth grade and enjoys golf, drawing, and baseball. He loves spending time outdoors with his family and dog, and he hopes to become an architect or a professional golfer one day.

Erin: A huge thank you to Erin for also serving as a guest pledger! Erin is a sophomore at La Porte High School who is actively involved in leadership and community service. She serves as the Student Council secretary and is a member of the City of La Porte Youth Advisory Committee. Erin plans to pursue a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree.

Isaac Daigle: We were honored to have Mayor Rick Helton present a graduation cord to LPISD senior Isaac Daigle for his participation in the City of La Porte Municipal Court's Teen Court. Many thanks to Judge Janikka Bratton and her team for all their efforts with our youth, and to LPISD for working with the Municipal Court to make this recognition possible.

We are pleased to share these photos to commemorate these special moments. Thank you to all of these amazing students for your dedication to our community!

| This week, Mayor Helton, Councilman Guerra, and the Office of Emergency Management attended the 2026 Texas Emergency Management Conference in Fort Worth.

A special thank you to the Texas Division of Emergency Management for the tremendous work that goes into hosting this statewide conference each year. Bringing together more than 4,000 emergency management professionals, first responders, elected officials, public and private sector partners, and decision-makers is no small task, and the impact of this event is felt across communities throughout Texas.

La Porte was also proud to partner with the City of Deer Park to present on the coordinated response to the 2024 Major Pipeline Fire. This incident required extensive multi-agency coordination, evacuation planning, sheltering support, public communication, and sustained recovery efforts to help protect thousands of homes, dozens of businesses, and critical infrastructure.

Opportunities like this allow our team to share lessons learned, strengthen regional partnerships, and bring back valuable tools and strategies to better serve and protect the La Porte community.

Preparedness is not accidental. It is built through leadership, coordination, collaboration, and a continued commitment to the people we serve.
