From the curator of the UH Libraries' LGBTQ History Research Collection: One of the amazing finds in the collection is the Houston-based [womyn's/wimmin's] community publication titled Azulão, which was also a [womyn's] support group. Their physical space was located in Montrose and served as a community space and temporary shelter for [womyn] in crisis.

Displayed are images from Volume 2, Issue 3 (June 1984) in the Charles W. Botts and Jimmy Carper Memorial Research Library. This particular issue has been a favorite to display in many pop-up exhibits.

From the back cover page (not pictured): "This is a womyns community newspaper. The spelling of womyn or wimmin does not indicate an anti-male attitude. Our intention is to claim our identity, independent of, not as a subgroup of, our male dominated society."
