Baytown Breaks Ground on New Fire Station 2

City officials, firefighters, and community members gathered recently to celebrate the groundbreaking of the new Fire Station 2, marking a major investment in Baytown’s public safety future.

Fire Station 2 has served the Baytown community since 1954, supporting generations of firefighters and residents for more than 70 years. As firefighting technology and equipment have evolved, the current facility no longer meets the operational needs of a modern fire department due to age, limited space, and other challenges.

The new station will include updated safety features and improved space for firefighters and emergency equipment, helping crews better serve the community for years to come.

The approximately $10.7 million project is funded through the City’s 2022 and 2025 General Fund Bond Proceeds. Construction is already underway and is expected to take about 13 months, with completion anticipated in the third quarter of 2027.

During the ceremony, Mayor Johnson and other City leaders thanked Chief Dobson and Baytown firefighters for their continued service and dedication to the community. Mayor Johnson said the new Fire Station 2 reflects Baytown’s ongoing commitment to investing in public safety and preparing for the city’s future growth.
