Chris Morales was elected as Judge of County Court at Law No. 1 in 2014 and re-elected in 2018. As Judge, he manages a multitude of cases that impacts the daily life of every citizen in Fort Bend County. Judge Morales oversees cases involving probate & guardianship, juvenile, civil litigation, condemnation, misdemeanor and civil mental health commitments. Most importantly, Judge Morales also overs

ees our County’s only Misdemeanor Mental Health Court, a program designed to reduce recidivism rates among criminal defendants with mental illness. Since taking office, Judge Morales has been instrumental in implementing new technologies in the courtroom that reduce taxpayer costs and ensure the courts evolve with changing needs. In fact, when the COVID-19 Pandemic closed the courts, Judge Morales’ previous planning and knowledge of virtual conferencing platforms allowed his Court to quickly adopt such technology to conduct remote hearings, reducing the impact on Court operations. Further, Judge Morales has worked hard to introduce multiple continuing education events for lawyers and has worked closely with the Juvenile Probation Department for the youth of our County. Judge Morales is a lifelong resident of Fort Bend County, graduating from B.F. Terry High School in Rosenberg and Texas A&M University in College Station. He is married to his high school sweetheart and fellow Texas A&M graduate, Vanessa Morales. Judge Morales and Vanessa have been members at River Pointe Church in Richmond for over 10 years, and have two children, Madelyn and William. Last night, I had the honor of throwing out the ceremonial first pitch at the Rosenberg National Little League 9U Tournament.

It was great to be out there in front of Lamar LL, Needville LL, Alvin LL, and Rosenberg National LL, celebrating the players, coaches, families, and volunteers who make Little League so special.

Thank you to everyone for the support — it was a night I won’t forget!

Today, we pause to remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

Memorial Day is more than a long weekend — it is a solemn reminder that the freedoms we enjoy were protected by those who gave everything. Their courage, sacrifice, and love of country should never be forgotten.

As we gather with family and friends, may we also take time to honor the fallen, pray for their families, and reflect on the responsibility we all share to preserve the values they defended.

May God bless our fallen heroes, their families, Fort Bend County, and the United States of America.

Happy National Rescue Dog Day! 🐾

Today is a great reminder of how special rescue dogs are — and how much joy they bring to a family. Our family dog, Duke, is a rescue, and we’re so grateful he found his way to us. He’s loyal, loving, and has become a big part of our home (and our hearts).

If you’ve ever thought about adding a dog to your family, consider adopting. You might be saving a life — and gaining a best friend. 💙🐶

Happy Armed Forces Day 🇺🇸

Today we honor the men and women serving in every branch of the United States Armed Forces — those on active duty, deployed overseas, and stationed here at home. Their courage, discipline, and sacrifice protect the freedoms we often take for granted.

To every service member and military family in Fort Bend County and across our nation: thank you for your service and for all you give.

Today is Peace Officers Memorial Day — a day set aside to honor the law enforcement officers who gave their lives in the line of duty and to remember the families who carry that loss every day.

This day also marks the beginning of National Police Week, a time when communities across the country pause to recognize the dedication, courage, and sacrifice of the men and women who protect and serve.

To every peace officer in Fort Bend County and across our nation: thank you for answering the call. And to those we’ve lost, we will never forget. 🇺🇸

Today, I was honored to be a sponsor of Fort Bend Mental Health’s first annual Hope in Motion event.

As the judge who presides over Fort Bend County’s Misdemeanor Mental Health Court, I see firsthand how important it is to support programs and organizations that bring awareness, resources, and hope to those facing mental health challenges.

Mental health matters, and events like this help remind our community that no one should have to walk that journey alone.

It was wonderful to see so many people come together in support of mental health awareness, and I am grateful to be part of a community that continues to show up for one another.

Today is National Military Spouse Appreciation Day.

Military spouses serve too — often quietly and without recognition — holding families together through deployments, relocations, long hours, and the constant uncertainty that comes with military life. Their strength, sacrifice, and steady leadership at home make service possible.

To every military spouse in Fort Bend County and across our nation: thank you for all you do for your family and for our country. 🇺🇸

National Astronaut Day 🚀

Today we celebrate the brave men and women who push the limits of what’s possible — and inspire our kids to dream bigger.

It’s also a perfect time to reflect on an incredible milestone from this past month: NASA’s Artemis II mission, the most recent flight that carried astronauts on a lunar flyby around the Moon — the first crewed trip to the Moon’s vicinity since 1972. Artemis flew past the Moon on April 6, 2026, and the crew safely returned to Earth on April 10, 2026.

Here in Fort Bend County, I love seeing how much our students are drawn to STEM and exploration. Days like today are a reminder: when we invest in education and character, the next giant leap might come from right here. 🌕
