147th Attack Wing The 147th Attack Wing, at Ellington Field in Houston, TX, flies combat support missions 24/7 via adv Air Force or Department of Defense.

The stated mission of the USAF is to "deliver sovereign options for the defense of the United States of America and its global interests — to fly and fight in Air, Space, and Cyberspace." Airmen of the 147th Attack Wing strengthened readiness and executed mission-focused training during this drill weekend at the 147th Attack Wing.

Force Support Airmen kept the force sustained and ready, Air Support Operations Squadron members worked on combatives proficiency and Civil Engineers maintained and packed expeditionary equipment to support future operations. Training, sustainment, and preparation remain central to mission success across the wing.

Each drill weekend reinforces the wing’s ability to respond, support, and execute when called. Texans serving Texans anytime, anywhere.

After a distinguished career of service, U.S. Air Force Chief Master Sgt. Brandt S. Spenrath, senior enlisted leader of the 147th Operations Group, is honored during his retirement ceremony at Joint Base Ellington Field on Feb. 7, 2026.

Throughout his career, Chief Spenrath serves as a mentor and leader to countless Airmen, leaving a lasting impact on the 147th Attack Wing and the Air National Guard. We thank him for his dedication and wish him the very best in his next chapter.

The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriation is passed by Congress and passed into law.
