School Zone Flashers Upgrades

The Traffic Department recently completed upgrades to the school zone flasher systems at Ferguson Elementary, League City Elementary, Hall Elementary, and Education Village. This work is part of the City's ongoing effort to modernize school zone safety infrastructure throughout League City.

As part of the project, crews replaced the existing flasher cabinets with larger units designed to house two marine-grade batteries. The increased battery capacity provides longer backup power during extended periods of cloudy weather or limited sunlight, helping ensure the solar-powered flasher systems remain operational when they are needed most.

These improvements enhance the reliability of our school zone safety systems and help provide a safer environment for students, parents, school staff, and motorists throughout the year.

🌳 🎨 Pack a lawn chair or blanket and join us at Heritage Park on Saturday, July 25, from 5 to 8 p.m. for Live Arts Under the Live Oaks, an evening of live art demonstrations, music, dance, poetry, and more.

Presented by the League City Patrons of the Parks and Arts Foundation, the nonprofit organization that supports the City's Public Art Initiative, this free event is a wonderful way to experience the local arts community.

While you're there, stop by the League City Artists in Residency studio for tours and a chance to meet our three new artists!

Parking is available in the main lot near the intersection of Landrum and Coryell Street.

There is a regularly scheduled City Council meeting at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14.

Prior to the meeting there will be a Work Session at 5 p.m. Residents may attend the meeting in person at 200 W. Walker Street or watch live on the City's page or on Comcast Channel 16. Council meetings also replay daily on Channel 16 at 9 a.m. and 7 p.m.

We've had six amazing blood drives in 2026 and are excited to save even more lives in July! We've saved 579 lives through blood donations so far in 2026. If we keep this going, we will beat our 2025 record of saving just over 1,000 lives.
