Council Member Kamin partnered with UTHealth Houston and pediatric offices across the city to expand the initiative, delivering hundreds of free gun locks and safes to families and gun owners—especially those with young children.

The effort is part of ongoing work to address the epidemic of firearm injuries impacting children and young adults across Houston through prevention, education, and secure firearm storage.

Council Member Kamin has allocated $60K in District Funds to improve pedestrian safety at the intersection of Braes Blvd and N. Braeswood Blvd improving connectivity to the Rabbi Karff Bridge. 🚸

The project will help create a safer crossing for families, pedestrians, and cyclists traveling through this heavily used connection along the bayou trail system. 🚶‍♀️🚴‍♂️

Council Member Kamin has secured a $220K pedestrian safety package along Ella at W. 22nd and W. 23rd Streets in partnership with Memorial Heights Redevelopment Authority, creating safer access to Little Thicket Park. 🚸🌳

The project will include a Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon (RRFB), pedestrian refuge through the median, new signage and striping, and a High-Intensity Activated Crosswalk (HAWK) signal to improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists. 🚶‍♀️🚴‍♂️

The interlocal agreement between the City and the TIRZ is currently pending.

NEW: Council Member Kamin secured new green stormwater infrastructure (GSI) language into the City’s Infrastructure Design Manual, working alongside partners from Walter P Moore, Rice University, and Houston Public Works. 🌿💧

This update helps clarify requirements for developers to incorporate GSI into new projects, making better use of space, reducing the urban heat island effect, and helping manage stormwater runoff more effectively across Houston.

Council Member Kamin joined Candice MatthewsDr and Grizzy's Hood News along with Houston Police Department Houston Health Department and others for enforcement inspections at Life at Jackson Square.

Cm Kamin continues to hold bad actor properties accountable and is fighting to improve conditions for residents, including an additional funding $10k for overtime apartment compliance program inspectors.
