NBHP's 2026-2027 Board of Directors have officially been slated. We would like to highlight our returning Board Member, Nkechi Agwuenu, in a new position as At-Large Member. Nikki serves as the CEO of Career & Recovery Resources, Inc.

Nikki is an executive operator and strategic leader with over 15 years of experience translating vision into measurable results. With a JD/MBA and PHR certification, she brings a unique combination of legal insight, operational expertise, and people leadership to organizations navigating growth, change, or complexity.

Nikki has led enterprise operations for organizations with multimillion-dollar budgets—overseeing HR, finance, compliance, and business process improvement. Her passion lies in building sustainable systems, mentoring high-performing teams, and collaborating with stakeholders to drive meaningful and measurable impact.

NBHP's 2026-2027 Board of Directors have officially been slated. We would like to higlight our returning Board Member, Anna Coffey, in a new position as At-Large Member.

Anna brings many years of non-profit experience and a passion for empowering families to The Women’s Home. With a background in social work, public health and law, Anna has pursued her passion for building healthy, strong communities. She has served women in a wide range of roles from working with rural women in West Africa to helping women make smart decisions about health care. Most recently, Anna served as President and CEO of The Immunization Partnership for 9 years.

Anna holds an undergraduate degree in Social Work from Marquette University and earned her law degree, specializing in Public Health Law, at the University of Houston. She has been published in several peer-reviewed journals, including Pediatrics, and has received numerous awards, including the Healthcare Hero award from the Houston Business Journal, the Community Health Leadership Award from the Episcopal Health Charities, and the Childhood Immunization Champion Award from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

NBHP's 2026-2027 Board of Directors have officially been slated. We would like to highlight our returning Membership Committee Chair, Kerry McCracken.

As Executive Director of The Children’s Assessment Center (The CAC), Kerry leads a Harris County Department and manages relations with The CAC Foundation’s Board of Directors. She oversees the day-to-day operations of the center including, partner relations, community education and outreach, overseeing the center’s budget, and development. Kerry also works with the National Children’s Alliance (NCA) and CAC’s of Texas (CACTX) to ensure that the center is always accredited, applies best practice standards, and provides the best possible care to the children and families the center serves.

Prior to joining The CAC, Kerry practiced law in Harris County, Texas for 24 years. After receiving her J.D. from Thurgood Marshall School of Law in 1994, she worked at the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, where she tried over 40 misdemeanor and felony jury trials. Kerry then worked for several years as a criminal defense attorney, where she learned from her clients the impact sexual abuse victimization can have on their mental health and their behavior, especially if their abuse is never disclosed or addressed.

At The CAC, Kerry works closely with members of the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) including law enforcement, Child Protective Services, Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, the County Attorney’s Office and Texas Children’s Hospital to create a safe, friendly environment for the treatment and healing of sexually abused children and their families. Prevention
training and education are also a primary objective for Kerry and her staff.

NBHP's 2026-2027 Board of Directors have officially been slated. We would like to highlight our returning Projects Committee Chair, Charlie McMurray-Horton.

Charlzetta McMurray-Horton, RN, PMH-BC, NEA-BC, BSN, MS holds both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Oklahoma. She is ANCC board-certified as a Nurse Executive Advanced and as a Psychiatric–Mental Health Nurse. Over her 35-year career, she has practiced psychiatric nursing across the continuum of care, including acute care, emergency services, home health, outpatient and residential treatment, and academic settings providing care to patients across the lifespan.

Ms. McMurray-Horton’s leadership experience is extensive and diverse. She has served as a Clinical Nurse Specialist, University Instructor, Program Manager, Director, Administrative Director, and Associate Administrator. For the past 19 years at Harris Health in Houston, Texas where she has led a wide range of clinical and operational departments, including psychiatry, rehabilitation, and skilled nursing; system clinical case management; utilization management; occupational health; EMS transportation; outsourced clinical contracted services; the transfer center, forensic nursing, and crisis intervention programs.

She currently serves as the Vice President of Specialty Programs at Harris Health and as Adjunct Clinical Faculty at the University of St. Thomas.

Ms. McMurray-Horton is deeply engaged in professional and community leadership. She is a member of the Texas Hospital Association Behavioral Health Council and is the Program Committee Chair for the Board of The Network of Behavioral Health Providers. She is also the President of the Executive Board of NAMI Greater Houston and President-Elect of the American Psychiatric Nurses Association (APNA) Texas Chapter.
