TRAFFIC ALERT

To improve traffic flow during ongoing maintenance at the Trinity River Bridge, the Texas Department of Transportation has temporarily closed the north feeder road at the Wallisville/Liberty Bridge. Additionally, the off-ramp exit for westbound traffic at the 807-mile marker to Wallisville is also anticipated to be shut down. Vehicles using the north feeder road must turn south under the interstate overpass at Wallisville Liberty Road; all further traffic will be redirected to the south feeder road.

Due to these closures, access to westbound Interstate 10 from the frontage road will not be possible beyond the westbound entrance ramp at FM 563.

Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers and Chambers County Sheriff’s Office Deputies will be on-site to enforce the traffic diversion. Drivers are prohibited from leaving the roadway or driving through ditches to enter or exit the interstate. Such actions are illegal and unsafe, creating a serious hazard for other motorists. Violators may receive a citation of up to $200. Stay on the interstate. The construction congestion delays are 10-15 minutes on average. Drivers exiting the interstate in attempts to bypass the construction are delayed up to an hour or more.

We appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation as crews work to improve safety and traffic flow in this area.

The Chambers County dump sites will be closed on December 24 and December 25 in observance of the holiday.

All sites will reopen Friday, December 26, during regular operating hours.

Thank you, and we wish everyone a safe and happy holiday! 🎄

Road Closure Notice

After meeting with TxDOT to address traffic issues near the Trinity River Bridge in the Wallisville area, the westbound entrance ramp at the base of the bridge will be temporarily closed to help improve traffic flow. This action follows a significant increase in major crashes at this location.

In several of these incidents, heavy congestion has limited the ability of first responders and roadway cleanup crews to quickly reach and clear crash scenes, resulting in extended delays and increased safety concerns. The temporary ramp closure is intended to reduce congestion, improve emergency access, and help prevent future collisions, particularly during the busy holiday travel season.

We appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation as agencies work together to improve roadway safety.

A special thank you to the Chambers County Commissioners Court for approving and supporting this vital project.

We are proud to announce the launch of SaveStations—public-access AED (Automated External Defibrillator) cabinets—being installed at several key recreational and community locations throughout the county! This life-saving initiative is part of our continued effort to enhance public safety and emergency readiness in areas with high foot traffic and community activity.

Locations:
• White’s Park Arena
• Winnie Arena
• West Side Sports Complex
• Cook Park
• Fort Anahuac Park

These SaveStations will be accessible 24/7 and will house AEDs that can be used during sudden cardiac arrest emergencies. Early defibrillation is critical—it can more than double a person’s chance of survival. By placing these devices in central public spaces, we’re empowering community members to respond quickly when seconds truly matter.

Features:
• Each cabinet includes an alert system to notify EMS and designated personnel if accessed
• Clear, easy-to-follow instructions and signage provided
• Regular inspections and maintenance will ensure units remain ready to use

We’re also planning a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate this important milestone—keep an eye out for more details soon!

We’re excited to take this big step toward a safer, more prepared Chambers County.

This Memorial Day, we honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice reminds us that freedom is never free.

May we never take for granted the peace and liberties we enjoy because of their courage.

To the families who have lost loved ones in uniform, your strength and sacrifice are not forgotten.

Let us pause, reflect, and give thanks.
