Charlene Ward-Johnson for HCC Trustee, District 2 Charlene is deeply committed to increasing collaborations with corporate America and the community. She is a proud Mother of two children.

Once Elected, Charlene will advocate for:

Campus success by working with the faculty and the community
Increasing student enrollment by marketing and recruitment
Ethical Procurement processes by being more transparent It is her belief that in addition to government entities, corporations and industries also have a responsibility to provide tangible services to the communities in which they thri

ve. As President of the Black Alumni, Charlene has increased the association’s brand awareness, community projects, and student engagement. She also serves as a Board Member on the University of Houston Alumni Foundation, where she chairs the Public Affairs Committee. She previously served on the Gulf Coast Community Association Board. Charlene is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Top Ladies of Distinction-Humble Intercontinental Chapter and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Volunteer Committee. Charlene has over 25 years experience in the electric utility and customer service industry and is currently the Claims Manager in the Legal Department of an energy company. She volunteers, fundraises and organizes numerous community events designed to enrich the lives of the people in the community. She is successful with philanthropic endeavors for charities such as the Gulf Coast Community Association, American Heart Association, March of Dimes, United Negro College Fund, Junior Achievement, the Texas Black Expo, Kids Meals, to name a few. She also actively participates in politics by block walking and volunteering with political campaigns, voter registration drives, etc. She is a member of Mt Sinai Baptist Church.
