Today, we are celebrating the rescues of two children in Southeast Asia! Forced to work up to 12-hour days without food or water, these children were trafficked every night with all profits going directly into the pocket of their trafficker. In this situation, the trafficker was identified by the Anti-Human Trafficking Police and the children have now entered A21’s care—safe and free from exploitation. Now, these children are receiving medical and psychological support from our team and will soon be enrolled in school. This is just the beginning of their restoration journey—the goal is to see these children become whole, healthy, and independent individuals with bright, hope-filled futures!
I’m so immensely grateful for all of you who’ve joined us in the fight against trafficking—whether you’ve known about human trafficking for just one week or you’ve been in this fight for a number of years. Generating more than $150 billion USD every year, human trafficking is a crime that is affecting every continent and economic structure across the globe, and it is important to take a stand against it. When you’re sharing the facts, spreading awareness, saving your country’s hotline number, starting conversations about the realities of trafficking with your loved ones, educating yourself on the signs and types of trafficking, you are making a difference. Your action can lead to rescues, just like the two children—now free from exploitation—we are celebrating today. We can only continue in this work with the voices, actions, and support of each and every one of you.
If you are wondering “Where can I start?” or “What can I do?”, I encourage you to save the date for our first-ever A21 Global Freedom Summit. On October 17, we will gather together online and equip you to fight human trafficking right where you are. Then, we will have the opportunity to take action—to fight for freedom through tangible, practical ways in your local city, town, or community. This will be a powerful day of local action for a global end to human trafficking. Hope you’ll join us!
Registration opens on August 17 — A21.org/Summit
