🚒 SCHOOL BUS ACCIDENT RESPONSE 🚒
At approximately 3:30 p.m., the San Leon Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to a 10-50 motor vehicle accident involving a school bus and a passenger vehicle.
San Leon Command and Tanker 1 arrived on location and found a white four-door sedan with moderate front-end damage and damage to the passenger-side rear area of the school bus.
Fortunately, there were no students on the school bus at the time of the accident. The only occupants were the bus driver and a bus monitor. Crews quickly assessed everyone involved.
One patient from the sedan was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Incidents like this are another reminder of why we continue to train and prepare for every possibility. Had the school bus been carrying students, firefighters could have been faced with a mass-casualty incident involving multiple pediatric patients. Training, preparation, communication, and rapid patient assessment are critical when seconds matter.
Great job to the members of the San Leon Volunteer Fire Department for another safe and professional response.

🚒 MUTUAL AID STRUCTURE FIRE RESPONSE 🚒
At approximately 1:30 a.m. this morning, the San Leon Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to provide mutual aid to the Bacliff Volunteer Fire Department, along with the Dickinson Fire Department, for a structure fire.
San Leon was requested to respond with Tanker 1, our 3,000-gallon tanker. Upon arrival, Tanker 1 positioned behind Bacliff Engine 22 and supplied its tank water to support ongoing fire suppression operations.
The Tanker 1 crew also assisted with defensive fire operations alongside the other departments on scene.
One resident was reportedly transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. Sadly, one small dog was found deceased inside the residence.
The continued teamwork between our mutual-aid fire departments makes a tremendous difference in fireground operations and firefighter safety. Time and time again, our departments work together, train together, and depend on one another to operate safely, efficiently, and professionally.
When the tones drop, department patches and jurisdictional lines take a back seat. We work as one team with one mission: protect lives, protect property, and make sure everyone goes home safely.
Our thoughts are with the resident and family affected by this fire.

San Leon Volunteer Fire Department continues to strive to be as efficient, effective, and prepared as possible in our fireground operations.
Tuesday night’s training focused on advancing attack lines, pump operations, establishing water supply, and extending fire attack lines using different appliances and techniques for different objectives. Crews were placed in realistic scenarios and required to complete assigned engine-company tasks while working together as a team.
Speed, efficiency, and proper communication on the fireground are critical. Establishing a reliable water supply and advancing attack lines quickly can help contain the fire, protect and salvage the remainder of a residence, and most importantly, increase the chances of successfully rescuing someone who may still be trapped inside.
Every second matters. Every assignment matters. Every member has a job to do.
Training never stops at San Leon Volunteer Fire Department because our community depends on us to be ready when the call comes in. 🚒🔥

🚒 MAJOR MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT RESPONSE 🚒
San Leon Volunteer Fire Department was paged to assist a neighboring fire department with a major two-vehicle accident at Highway 146 and Gordy Road.
San Leon Rescue 1 and Engine 1 responded and arrived to find two vehicles with significant damage. Rescue 1 personnel immediately began securing the vehicles, checking for occupants, and assisting with scene safety along with Engine 1 personnel. Reacue 1 member supported patient care operations.
Our members assisted with triage and patient care for both drivers, working alongside EMS crews on scene. Both drivers were transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
Calls like this are another reminder of why neighboring fire departments train together and depend on one another. We never know what the next call will bring, so our members must remain prepared for anything.

🔥 MUTUAL AID — NEIGHBORS HELPING NEIGHBORS 🔥

On August 19 at approximately 4:30 PM, the San Leon Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to assist the Texas City Fire Department with a commercial structure fire at the former Tradewinds movie theater.

With extreme heat conditions and the size of the commercial building, multiple agencies from throughout Galveston County responded to assist. San Leon Engine 1 made location and joined crews operating at the scene.

While crews were still working the commercial fire, another fully involved fire was dispatched in Texas City. San Leon was released from the first scene and responded to the second incident near Highway 146 and Area 51, assisting with fire suppression operations.

After the second fire was brought under control, San Leon crews were assigned to Texas City Fire Department Station 1, providing coverage for the city and its more than 60,000 residents while Texas City crews continued working the incidents.

Days like this show exactly why mutual aid, training, and teamwork are so important in the fire service. When a neighboring community needs help, departments must be prepared to respond, work together, and ensure communities remain protected.

The San Leon Volunteer Fire Department trains every week so our members are prepared not only to serve San Leon, but also to assist our neighboring cities and communities whenever called upon.

We are extremely proud of our members for their hard work, consistent training, and dedication to serving others day in and day out.
