🧺 Question of the Day 🧺

Today is International Picnic Day!

If you could pack the perfect Michigan picnic, what would be in your basket?

πŸ— Fried Chicken?
πŸ₯ͺ Sandwiches?
πŸ‰ Watermelon?
πŸ₯” Chips?
πŸͺ Homemade Cookies?
πŸ₯€ Your favorite drink?

And most importantly...

πŸ“ Where would you go?

A quiet lake?
A state park?
The family cabin?
A favorite fishing spot?
Right in your own backyard?

Tell us your perfect picnic location and menu in the comments!

We'll start...

For us, it would probably be a peaceful Michigan lake, a comfortable chair, good company, and watching the sunset.

πŸ‘‡ Your turn!

Running a small business in a rural community isn't always easy.

Most people see the front counter, the classes, the events, and the smiling faces.

What they don't see are the hours spent behind the scenes trying to build something that serves our community.

Living in a rural area means we often have to work twice as hard for the same visibility larger businesses receive automatically.

Website updates. ( Hours and Weeks) DEN OF MERRITT DOT COM
Training certifications. NRA, USCCA AND US LAWSHIELD
Community events. 4-H, NON-PROFITS, SPEAKING ENGAGEMENTS
Building partnerships. Working with local business for collaborations
Learning new technology. ( oh y'all, things have changed since WIN98) lol
Improving our facility. (Best VR in Michigan for training next to military)
Driving hours for continuing education. (Colorado Springs next)
Attending local events. (Different Sporting Tool Events)
Supporting local organizations. (Anything support our next generation)
Employees - Very soon!!!

Some days it feels like taking two steps forward and one step back.

But we believe rural communities deserve quality services, opportunities, education, and local businesses that care.

So we keep showing up.

Thank you to every customer, student, supporter, and friend who has helped us leave a footprint here in Merritt.

We may be a small fish in a smaller pond, but we're still working hard to do big lake things.

❀️ Thank you for being part of the journey.

πŸ”₯ CUSTOMER STORY TUESDAY πŸ”₯

A local customer walked through our doors carrying more than just a piece of "sporting equipment." (Cant Show Pictures, FB rules with us small fish)

After a house fire, he thought a family heirloom was lost forever. Years of memories, hunts with family, and stories attached to it seemed gone in an instant.

When he brought it to us, the damage looked overwhelming.

Don carefully inspected it, cleaned away years of soot, corrosion, and debris, and began the process of bringing it back to life.

The result?

Not only was it functional again, but it was able to stay in the family where it belonged.

Sometimes it's not about replacing something.

Sometimes it's about preserving a memory.

If you have sporting equipment that's been damaged, neglected, or sitting in a closet for years, stop by and let's see what can be done.

Every item has a story. We just help write the next chapter.

🎯 Monday Education Tip

Success rarely happens by accident.

Whether it's school, work, sports, or life, improvement comes from learning the fundamentals, practicing consistently, and building good habits.

Tonight young athletes with Spot On Shooting 4-H Club, Missaukee/Wexford will be participating in "skill building" sports activities at Cadillac Sportsman's Club at 6-7:30pm.
These programs help teach valuable life skills such as:

βœ… Focus
βœ… Discipline
βœ… Responsibility
βœ… Goal Setting
βœ… Sportsmanship
βœ… Confidence

No matter the activity, the lesson remains the same:

Small improvements made consistently over time lead to big results.

What skill are you working on improving this week?
