TF Maverick continued supporting Annual Training this week, this time for the 100th Infantry Battalion. OCs tailored MDMP classes for the Battalion Staff to enable learning and growth through repetition.

The 100th Infantry Battalion threw everything they had into making themselves better this week. We are proud to continue our partnership with the only Infantry Battalion in the US Army Reserve.

We recognized excellence in both our partnered Battalion (2-35IN) as well as those who volunteered to join us as Mavericks. We started the week off strong with combatives PT led by SFC Diggs, our Master Combatives Trainer, focusing on the zero-meter fight—closing distance, controlling the engagement, and winning in the clinch. Nothing flashy—just fundamentals, reps, and disciplined aggression.

SFC Diggs runs combatives-focused PT for the Mavericks regularly, and this session was even better with light fighters from across the 25th ID jumping in with us. Iron sharpens iron—great work by everyone who showed up ready to learn and compete.

Kicked off the morning with a motivational Jungle 5K on the Jungle Operations Training Course alongside our BDE CSM and teammates from across the brigade. The Maverick command team was proud to be out there with our teammates—building momentum, sharpening readiness, and reinforcing a culture of fitness and teamwork!

This weekend, the Mavericks executed distributed training across Hawaiʻi with our COMPO 2 and COMPO 3 partners, strengthening readiness and sharpening teams ahead of upcoming missions.

At Shafter Flats, Maverick OC/Ts executed MDMP training with the 100th IN BN staff (442nd IN Regiment, U.S. Army Reserve) to refine planning, staff battle rhythm, and decision-making.

On Hawaiʻi Island, SFC Cain and CPT Chavez supported HHC Mortars, 100th IN BN with an FDC Academy and dismounted mortar section STX at Keaukaha Military Reservation- reinforcing technical accuracy through repetition and hands-on lanes.

Back on Oʻahu, SFC Mataese and Team Cavalry trained with A/B Troop, 1-299th Cavalry Regiment (29th IBCT, HIARNG) on RT-1523H radio proficiency and TRIGGER train-the-trainer instruction while assisting troop readiness actions.

Congratulations to LTC Dave Yi, Battalion Commander, 1st BN, 196th IN BDE, on graduating Jungle School—a demanding course that tests endurance, discipline, and leadership in tough conditions. He graduated alongside CPT Ramonjoe Respicio from 3rd BN, 196th IN BDE, showcasing the strength of the 196th team across the Pacific.

Leaders who pursue hard training bring that edge back to the formation, strengthening our readiness and supporting the JPMRC mission wherever we’re called to operate. Well done, gentlemen!

In closing out February, Maverick Battalion ramped up the tempo in fully committing to JPMRC 26-02 in Alaska, building readiness from the individual level to a full CTC rotation.

Congratulations to SFC Diggs, CPT Robinson, and CPT Aquino, who successfully completed Cold Weather Orientation Course (CWOC) — a course that steps towards mastering planning and operations in extreme cold, setting the conditions to coach, teach, and mentor Soldiers effectively in the Arctic.

Those Mavericks set the tempo in our preparation phase which paid dividends during the Artic Wolves culminating exercise at Fort Wainwright, where our Mavericks served as OC/Ts for 1-5 IN BN “Bobcats” as they operated across a true cold-weather fight. The rotation challenged everyone with -35° temperatures, elevated terrain, and persistent snow precipitation that complicated movement, visibility, sustainment, and communications.

Proud of the team’s professionalism and grit up north—and proud to support the Bobcats in sharpening their arctic readiness!
